Peace of mind and a great system to use when converting that old pre-wired home alarm to newer technology
Package was priced well and is about as good as you can get for a DIY alarm system. Don't expect to receive any support from Honeywell since they only provide tech support to dealers. If you have any issues, they'll direct you to one of their authorized alarm installers. Install was VERY easy and can look like a custom install if you take your time and do a wall drop. The package I received came with everything needed to get this thing setup. I recommend purchasing the 5800C2W if you plan to convert a wired home to use this along with a keypad (5828v or 5828) so that you can move the main Lynx Touch 7000 module away from your entry points. I also opted for the external siren kit (can be purchased from AlarmGrid) along with the $15 Self monitoring service. For $15 a month, I can access my home alarm and home automation devices remotely, arm/disarm, and receive email, text and app notifications whenever the alarm is triggered, armed/disarmed, power outage, or tampered with. I, like many others had 1 big issues with this device, and that was with the Z-Wave functionality on Schlage Camelot touchscreen locks. I kept having issues with all three of my Schlage locks timing out and nodes failing. This would result in the keypad locking up and not working with the code. I had to Exclude these and Include them along with reprogramming the entry code. After this occurred multiple times and after contacting Honeywell customer service (big disappointment), I decided to trouble shoot myself. Long story short, the ZWave antenna on this Lynx 7000 module has horrible reception for secured devices (ie: locks). They are very temperamental with distance and standard ZWave repeaters don't transmit the security information needed for these locks to work well. Once I moved the Lynx Touch 7000 from the corner of my home to the center, it began working and hasn't had any failed nodes since. Now that they're working, the only minor annoyance is the amount of time it takes for the lock to lock or unlock after selecting it from my phone or the Lynx Touch 7000 module (about 30 seconds on average).

Great Item and seller was outstanding.
This is a great system. Purchased on Amazon and seller contacted me to inform me that items would be shipped in two shipments and confirmed they arrived. Seller offered to assist with any questions. Very easy to install. You do need a monitoring service to control this remote via Honeywell total connect. Total Connect has varying subscriptions. I do not get traffic and weather and was told that would be an adidtional $6 per month. Basic level does not include remote zwave and camera monitoring. With that siad, the system is solid. No problems connecting with window and door receivers. Recommend you purchase 5818 recessed door receivers for your doors. This way you will not see any receivers as this recess into door frame. The only reason I give it four stars instead of 5 is that you have to pay a subscription to monitoring remotely. Honeywell should offer this at no charge. Also, I have Honeywell touch screen thermostats that are not compatible and have to be controlled through a separate Honeywell app. With all this said and after my research, I believe it is the best system on the market. I purchased from Warrior Protection Services via Amazon and would recommend this seller.

Professional system and rather easy to install after learning curve
This is a pro grade alarm system and what many of the name brand companies like ADT use for their systems. That said, it is not the typical DIY system but you can totally install it yourself if you have half a brain and watch a few youtube videos for help. For me it was very easy and straight forward to install then the programming made more sense when I watched a few videos. There is help out there all over the place. I used a Simplisafe before this and it was very simple to install but the quality was not near what the quality is on this system. Buy the door contacts that you actually drill into the casement and install however if you want totally hidden and nice looking contacts. The ones that come with this system are rather large and ugly if you ask me. I use this system on my wifi network and even without monitoring you can pay .99 at the app store on iOS and use the app to connect to your panel while in your house on your wifi network. I use it to arm/disarm the system from my bedside and it is the exact replica of the panel itself. I did purchase the separate horn/sounder as it is much louder but honestly you don't really need it. I have a larger house so I found it nice to have that closer to my bedroom. You cannot go wrong with this system and most of the bad reviews are because this is not the typical DIY system and there is a little bit of a learning curve but it was fairly easy for me. For instance there is a wire that you need to plug into the main panel and run to an outlet and most people struggle with that. I simply used my fish tape and put a very small hole behind the panel and actually came out right next to the plug itself down below and you cannot see the wire at all - simple and professional looking but many folks have a major issue doing stuff like that.

Forced to buy monthly service to control while away from home. Useless without the paid monthly service.
I recently purchased this same unit. The boot screen would continually loop when the wifi module was installed. After I removed the wifi module it worked fine but I did request an exchange for another one with no issues (I had also purchased several hundred dollars worth of additional sensors, mount, and IP cameras for this crappy unit). The unit is basically useless without a paid monitoring service and the cost for service increases with each added feature or zone. There are DIY security alarms like this one that allows remote control from a pc, droid, or iOS with no cost. Honeywell shouldnt sell their thermostats that alow free control of your home temperature and then force consumers to buy security service. Shop for SwannDVR or GE security equipment....at least they dont make you buy $600 worth of annual services from an alarm company. Besides, this unit only sends signals to the alarm company and all they do is call you or 911. Why cant my mother-in-law be my monitoring service?

This is an excellent system, but you have to research the system to know what you are buying
This item works as advertized! I installed it myself in about a week working on it about 3-4 hours a day. (with 21 sensors, not all included) Doing it this way I am more familiar with the system. The instructions are a little vague, but youtube helped a great deal. I would recommend researching all the sensors available for the system to see what fits your application better, rather than just ordering them. Sensors can be added after system installation very easily. I would highly recommend researching this item to see how complex it is before buying it. Not doing so may leave you dissatisfied. If you do not have technical knowledge needed to install this item (instructions available on-line, read them before you buy it) you will need the assistance of an installer. Programming can be done by the homeowner, but some programming has to be done after monitored service provider has been selected. This system will still work without monitored service. The seller shipped this item in a timely manor.

Not for the typical DIY'er!!
The control panel, once you learn how to navigate the non-user friendly UI, is pretty good/powerful. There are many good features. However, the problem is both the cost and the problematic issues with the sensors. For example, the motion sensors (main problem) are NOT pet friendly. I have 3 of them and all 3 get triggered by our medium sized dogs (35-45 lbs - no where near the 80 lbs that the sensors are supposed to tollerate)! Though they were installed at the exact height/method recommended by Honeywell, I have had to uninstall all of them (i.e. remove them from the panel) as they trigger the alarm every time we leave if they are active! The window sensors are very hard to take apart to put the battery in. So you have to use something to depress the latch. On three of those expensive sensors (I bought a lot of extra window sensors as we have many windows), the thin plastic latch broke and now, though I have them tightly taped together, the Tamper sensor triggers all the time so I've had to scrap those 3 sensors (over $100 worth!!). The door sensors are pretty good IF you buy the in-door sensors that you drill into the door/frame. The kind that come with this kit frankly suck - especially for doors! I have yet to make the remote work, although I've successfully activated all the other sensors. Good luck!! I would only recommend this as a DIY project if you've installed this or similar system before AND you have a LOT of spare time AND a very patient family who can tollerate the many false alarms as you're working out the bugs.

Expensive monitoring required to see cams and remote control alarm off property
As a long time alarm tech, and Honeywell certified Fire-Lite, and silent night fire panel installer, this seemed like a good system for the new Ohana. Programmed and installed very easy, intuitive interface, sexy looking control panel. I liked the integrated security camera system. Never read the small print before purchase. You must subscribe to alarm-net for aboot 80 bucks a month to see cams off the property, and monitor remote alarm functions.

great system
I use this system both in my home and my office - full home automation and alarm - do NOT get it for the camera feature - the camera feature sucks, the cameras that are compatible (very few) are expensive and overpriced and they lose connection every couple days - but the rest of the system and automation is great - you can pay $15 /month for monitoring that allows you to log in from your smartphone and control thermostat, lights, alarm, front door lock, etc - and they will text you if/when the alarm goes off
