is the hand base removable ?

Yep, the wrist rest is removable. It's held in by two magnetic tabs on the bottom side.

Does the k100 have quality keycaps? i referring to the garbage cheap plastic caps on the k70 lux that crack constantly.

I have both the K70 and the K100. they really screwed up with the K70 keycaps, big time (but replacing them for $20 makes it a great keyboard again) The K100 keycaps are perfect.

How loud is this keyboard?

I don't know what keyboard these other people are talking about. This keyboard has no "clicking" like the Cherry MX Blue switches. It sounds pretty comparable to keyboards with Cherry MX Speed or MX Red key switches. The noise it makes comes from bottoming out the keys. They're hollow so there is a kind of clack sound of you bottom out the keys, but that's the same as every other mechanical keyboard that doesn't have the O-ring treatment to dampen the sound of the keys hitting the bottom of their travel. This one is slightly louder because the keys don't bottom in a recessed well like a few mechanical keyboards do, but it's also slightly quieter with the optical switches because the keys have a shorter travel (this depends on how you type more than anything, and I find that I can type on this quieter than my other mechanical keyboards if I try, but I'm still adapting to how this one is different than all the other Cherry MX keyboards I have). These have double shot PBT key caps so they do have a little different sound than the cheaper key caps that a lot of mechanical keyboards have, but it's a difference in sound, not volume. This is quite noticeably louder than cheap rubber dome switch keyboards.
