Great product for its price!
I’ve used a different color-depositing mask before, but this one really impressed me. It gave my hair a rich, beautiful tone and left it soft and shiny. Just a small note for anyone using it for the first time — when applying, the mask may look a bit greenish in color (even though it’s not green in the jar!). It can also leave a slight tint on the scalp, so I recommend gently washing your scalp with shampoo after rinsing it out. Don’t worry, the hair itself doesn’t turn green at all. Overall, it toned my hair evenly and looks great. Definitely worth it for the price!

Smells/feels great. Zero color.
To start I have auburn red hair. It's a bit dark, but not super dark (about mid range in the example photos.) So, I didnt expect my hair to be magically super green, but I expected a tint of it. I have used the Loriel green and it did at least look brown green in the light. - so I expected Overtone to be a bit better than the other dye (as that one wasn't even for dark hair). Maybe I didn't get the right green for darker hair? But the example images made me think otherwise. And it's the only green option I saw. I hate to leave a bad review, but it was a bit expensive (for me) and for it not to work left me sad. (Especially when a cheaper product worked better.) The good: it smells minty and does leave your hair feeling soft. I did really like the feel and scent. If I want my hair to be a bit more on the brunette side rather than the red side of auburn, I guess I can use it for that purpose. The bad: it did nothing but make my hair slightly darker. There wasn't even a hint of green in the light. I did try it twice. The second time I put a heavier layer in and left it on a bit longer than the directions and still nothing. It could be user error, but as the directions seem pretty simple I doubt that. So, maybe try another color if you have mid dark hair. I would, but I don't want to spent 22 or 32 more dollars on something that didn't work the first time. (And besides I really really wanted green.) Over all, disappointed with the lack of color. But I did like the smell and feel.

Perfect for bleached hair
I bought the coloring conditioner in the shade Vibrant Pink. I had bleached my hair between the levels 8-10. My virgin hair was originally a level 1 (dark brown, almost black). So while the color obviously didn't show on my virgin roots, it deposited color very well on my bleached hair. My hair length reaches the middle of my back. I had to use an entire tub. I think for a more even application, I would have needed 1 tub plus at least 1/4 of a second tub. Be mindful of applying product on the back of your head. I neglected that area so while the color did show up, it was peachier and less pink than the front strands of hair that I could easily see and reach. The gloves provided in the box absolutely suck - they're thin and come apart easily and have holes in the sides which defeat the purpose of protecting your hands and render them useless. Luckily I have a stash of disposable latex gloves. You will absolutely need them to protect your hands from getting stained. Immediately wipe surfaces if product splashes onto it. Small amounts of product lightly stained my white bathtub pink. Not the end of the world but something to be mindful of. Application is fairly easy. The consistency of the conditioner is like a goopy cream. It doesn't drip so it's easy to apply, but because it's thick it's hard to spread. This is why you have to use a lot of product to cover a lot of surface area. Any coloring product will smell unpleasant. This conditioner has a mint fragrance in it that attempts to cover up the unpleasant chemical smell. It makes it more bearable. Some people have stated that the smell is like toothpaste. I think it's like a combination of chemicals and toothpaste. If you have sensitive skin like me, do a patch test on an inconspicuous area like behind your ear. Or apply a thin layer of Vaseline on the skin touching your hairline, including your temples, behind the ears, and your neck. For more protection, apply Saran Wrap on top of the Vaseline. I'm pretty lazy though and applied it directly to my hair and scalp, being mindful of not letting the product touch too much of my skin. My application wasn't perfect so small areas of my skin had product on it. Those areas, plus my scalp, became slightly itchy and red. The itchiness disappeared a few hours after washing my hair out. I applied the product and loosely clipped it up with a large hair claw, then sat in a bath for about 40 minutes while watching videos to pass the time. The instructions say to leave it in for much less time. I don't think 5-15 minutes will make a significant difference and will likely result in wasted product. I highly recommend leaving it on for at least 30 minutes, max 45-60 minutes. Rinsing out the product with water was easy. Took maybe a good minute to get it out. Although your scalp and hair strands will feel slightly heavy and sticky due to the deposited color afterwards, I highly discourage people from washing their hair with shampoo and following up with a separate conditioner. Shampoo and conditioners can make the color bleed out more. Everytime you wash with even just water, color will bleed. After first time application, just rinse with cool water, dry, and style, then use dry shampoo to avoid washing your hair often. This will prolong the life of the color. When the hair is wet, the color looked like a deep pink/light red. When fully dry, the color is a beautiful and soft pink, with a shade somewhere in between cotton candy and pastel pink. It's not actually too vibrant, despite its name. This was exactly the color I was going for though. After reading reviews on the pastel pink conditioner, which were very abysmal, I'm glad I went with vibrant pink instead. With 1-2 washes, the color gradually fades into a beautiful and subtle rose gold. With 3-4 washes, the color is almost gone. With subsequent washes, the color is entirely gone. If you wash hair every two days while relying on dry shampoo in between washes, you can expect the color to last for about a week. If you want to maintain the pink, you'll have to wash hair even less and/or reapply product every few washes. At $32 a tub for about a week's worth of color, it's pricey and not very financially sustainable. Knowing this, I bought the color just to have one week's worth of a final hurrah before I'd permanently dye my hair back to black. I had fun while it lasted and I have no regrets! I have not tried other colors in this product line so I can't speak on their quality. This product did its job and I was happy with the results. I'd recommend this to anyone with hair bleached to levels 8 or above looking for a week's worth of a whimsical and feminine color.

Not as vibrant as expected but left hair soft, shiny, and healthy with a nice tint
First attempt ever trying to dye my hair on my own. Overall, pretty good experience! Usually I get it done in a salon and usually get balayage / highlights but I wanted to try out and see how I liked lilac purple with a semi permanent temporary tint before committing to paying hundreds of dollars for it. I definitely could’ve left it on a bit longer, but I wanted to play on the safe side. Still, I was thinking it would’ve turned out a bit more vibrant but you can still pretty clearly see the light purple stands where I had bright blonde highlights. It didn't affect my natural/virgin hair as much, just kind of acted like a cool toner. I sprayed my hair with a bit of water to help blend it in even though it said to apply to dry hair, so maybe that made a different in how much pigment my hair actually absorbed. Not sure how long it will last, but it was pretty easy and wasn’t too messy of an experience. It smells minty like others have mentioned, and made my hair really soft and shiny. Love that it’s cruelty free and gentle ingredients. I used about half the whole jar and will likely use the rest to touch it up.

Looking for Black and turned out Blue!
Im not going to be petty and leave 0 stars. The product is easy to use. I worked it in and it was black for the 15-20 minutes it was on my face. When I washed it out, I thought it was odd that what was going down the drain looked purple. Stepped out of the shower, and my white beard is BLUE. I would have accepted a light black or even brown but this is *clearly* blue. This would be devastating if I worked in a corporate setting - I would be shaving it all for Monday. So, fellas, if you got some white/grey and looking to darken it, this may not be the solution for you,, unless you are embracing the "aqua marine" look.

Expensive and didn't work
First of all, I think its great that this product does not have some of the harsh chemicals and other really bad ingredients that your typical off-the-shelf hair color products would have. However, after applying liberally to my wife's hair, and letting it sit the recommended amount of time, thus product didn't deposit any color in her hair. It pretty much washed right out. The natural warm tones in her hair are covered by a light, ashy grey color. So it's as if it didn't actually color her hair, and instead muted the natural tones. Her hair is a dark blonde to light brown color, so maybe anymore with her hair color needs to let the product stay in for 30-40 minutes before rinsing instead. Too expensive to try again and upkeep even if it does work.

It’s very bright on bleached hair! Check at timing intervals
It worked a little too well – I’ve used similar products in the past like Manic Panic, that had a much subtle effect. My hair is bleached, I recently had it done in a subtler rose gold color at the salon, but it washed out pretty quickly, despite using very expensive, supposedly color, safe shampoo and conditioner. So I got this product and left it on for 30 minutes, which was a big mistake. I should’ve checked it at 15. I am now very pink, but I know a few washes and it will lessen. I did get the conditioner, which I will try once the brightness has subdued. I wasn’t expecting it to be this bright, but I do like it and my hair feels very soft. I would say if your hair is already bleached or you plan on bleaching before applying, check at 10, 15 and 20 minutes and see how you like it. Also, I really should’ve used a brush applicator, as I used to do in the past, but I had thrown my old one out when I moved and was impatient to try this. So there are a couple patches on the back of the head that are not as well covered as the front. Knowing it all rinses out eventually makes me less stressed out. It’s a good product.

Black velvet is blue-black
Buyer beware. I purchased black velvet. I didn't realize it had a blue tinge and was really blue-black. The picture on the jar says black velvet that's it. That's the picture that's on Amazon. So when I received it, I just opened the box because the box that blue velvet, but I didn't realize that underneath the letters black velvet it is written blue black. I should have put my readers on. I applied this to my hair and now my hair looks blue or at least the part where I was growing out my grays I wanted to blend in my hair with a black color not a blue color. It looks terrible. While the product has a nice minty smell, it's very thick and very messy to apply to the hair. You definitely need gloves, which I used. Some got on the palms of my hand and the product is very hard to remove from the skin. I'm wondering how hard is it going be to remove from my hair. Luckily I did not apply to my entire hair, but unfortunately, even though I applied it just to a strip in the front of my hair it looks ridiculous.

Used twice
Did not damage my hair, Its nice. I have thick curly hair and the bottle only lasted 2 uses and was not enough to apply. I had pink highlights that wore off and I thought this would restore my pink highlights but it didn’t. It just added a tiny bit of color that wasn’t really that noticeable. I wouldn’t buy this again but I think it’s a good product overall. Just not what’s promised.
