Perfect and Accurate
I purchased the laser grip 1080. It arrived in a very simple blister pack, which includes battery. It is very soft to the touch and comfortable. This particular model has three buttons, the display can be dark or light, the laser can be on or off and still operate and you can change from Celsius to Fahrenheit from a push of button. I was unsure about the unit operating within specs, because of the price being so reasonable. At just under $20, it was a good deal. It works accurately and how is able to determine that, was using other equipment that I know keeps temperatures accurately. I have two computer screens as an example, one is a newer forte screen the other one is an older 1080 P. I know the 1080 P runs a little bit warmer. And the accuracy was incredible. I also have done water temperatures to test them using thermometers and they worked exactly the same as they should with accurate readings. I found the following services worked just fine. Metal, fire, water, plastic, air, walls, and glass were all tested and were very accurate. I like the fact that this has a decimal point readout. As example it can read a temperature of 78.2 rather than just 78. I found the accuracy on the decimal was also dead on. I am unsure about the negative reviews that I've seen on this product, because I found it worked completely fine, and was impressed with its overall quality. I have yet to use it outside in automotive or areas such as water pipes outside etc. But having tested other services I presume it would very accurate. Another test I did is I have my water heater thermostat set to 113°F. The water out of the water faucet, was 112.3. Which is probably very accurate being water will cool slightly in the external pipes, of the water faucet. Overall I can recommend purchasing this item, it works well simple to use, and settings are very clear as well as the readout. I like the idea that you can turn off the laser light as well as the display light if you wanted to. Having pushed a touch in an instant Celsius to Fahrenheit is a the added bonus for someone wanting to know both degrees settings. How long it will last will will we will see, as I just purchased this three days ago on Amazon prime for 18.99 if you need something that's accurate enough to be practical when this works I cannot say it is scientifically accurate that do not have those type of testers to his insurer the decimal point degrees are accurate. But I can say the plus side of the decimal point, seems to be extremely accurate. And for general use and testing it should work fine. I am tempted to buy the other models just to see what the differences are and how they operate, I may do that in the future if so I will update this review

Good tool - use consciously
This has been fun to use! I was surprised to find my oven temp was off by 25 degrees, my freezer was colder than I thought, and water does break into a boil at 212F. It has a Class 2 laser sight that can be switched on or stays off as the default, and that’s not something to look into or to point at another living thing’s eyes. Despite the speed of normal blink reflex being fast enough to protect the eyes from damage, a slow reflex could cause eye damage from prolonged exposure to the laser. So that’s something to consider if you have youngsters or people who wouldn’t understand the tool’s safe use. The tool can’t be locked either: it’s on as soon as the trigger is pulled and the laser can be activated with a simple button tap under the little screen. The laser pinpoints a small target area to measure precisely, while drifting the thermo back and forth in an area (without the laser on) will give a general temperature for the area, not a specific part of it. It also has an indigo back light screen that can be used or kept off by tapping a button under the screen. The other consideration that I regret having to mention but will, is that despite its yellow and black colors, it looks very much like a gun when in the hand and pointed with the red laser sight line showing. There are possibilities for misinterpreting seeing someone holding a pistol grip item with a front trigger and a black hole like a .38 size under the laser sight on the front. Even though it is obviously yellow & weird looking, to me it “reads” like a weapon, so I don’t ever use it outside or around other ppl, since people may misinterpret what it is & freak out. So that’s something you may want to consider in the context of where & how you want to use it. As far as the quality of the tool, it’s great! So far I’ve measured 5 below zero and as high as 600F, but it can go from 58 below zero up to 1022F. It can also be switched to read in Celcius instead of Farenheit. It’s good for crafting soap or checking meat or cooking oil temps to protect nutrients or assuring that frozen foods are cold enough. I recommend it as an accurate tool at a really good price. It's easy to use, convenient to read with or without the indigo screen on, easy to hold and aim the laser, & light to hold and carry. I give it a 5 star rating on utility, price, and fun to use, but have to say I would prefer having a totally different shaped thermometer. I really didn’t think of that when I looked at it online: weird screens, bright yellow & black, laser sight is cool & convenient, it seemed all ok until I put it in my hand, switched on the laser sight, and realized that uh-oh, this doesn’t look like a thermometer. Squeamish, I know, but there are many jumpy people around, and children & pets & animals and helicopters and you get the idea; it is not a toy in any way. Recommend for the non squeamish, but also for myself!

Accuracy and quality
Very accurate. Checked it with the wall clock temperature and later checked it with the nest thermostat indoor temperature. .1 difference, that's extremely good! Turns off automatically, easy to read, and quick reading. Comes with a 2 year warranty. Great quality and value.

Okay for basic use
I purchased this thermometer in May of 2023 and have used it regularly for a variety of scenarios, including: the temperature of my home’s interior ; my car’s interior ( which in Arizona gets boiling hot, trust thou me!) my cooking skillet surfaces; my indoor air conditioner returns, and my garage. While the accuracy of the meter is good, it feels rather cheaply made, and the trigger pull is short- traveled and spongy. The blue light display is too dim for my liking, but the normal daytime display is okay. To its credit, it features a Celsius/Fahrenheit selector, laser on/off selector, and light on/off selector on the front display panel. All in all, it’s an okay thermometer for around $22, but I have replaced it with a Klein Tools model, which I just purchased and will review after I put it through its paces.

Very helpful tool for cooking – especially with cast iron!
My husband chose this thermometer after reading a lot of reviews, and the product is exactly as described. We mainly bought it so we could know the exact temperature of our pans and pots, especially because we cook a lot with cast iron. Before using this, sometimes food like eggs would stick to the pan, but now it’s much easier to cook once we know the right temperature. No more sticking eggs haha. It’s also been very helpful for cooking meat. My husband loves making different cuts of meat, and some of them really need the pan to be at a specific temperature. Since we no longer have a grill, he uses this thermometer to check the pan temperature, and the meat cooks exactly the way we like it. Overall, it’s a very useful tool in the kitchen and we use it almost every day. Very happy with the purchase.

Excellent & Inexpensive
Product: Etekcity Lasergrip 800 Digital Infrared Thermometer Gun Rating: 4.5 of 5 (excellent) I cook a lot with cast iron flat griddles, both small and large ... a surface wholly unsuited for corded digital temperature probes, because at the sort of temperatures they’re most commonly used at (450-600F) if the droopy cord connecting the probe to the sensor touches the surface for anything longer than a brief instant, it’s toast, and you have to buy a new one. I’ve ruined several probes that way over the years, and it rapidly becomes annoying. To date, my favorite solution by far is one of the latest generation hand-held wireless Infrared Sensor Guns like the Etekcity Lasergrip 800, which cost me an extremely reasonable and affordable $25 usd in 2017. Anytime I heat a pot of oil for deep-frying, or use a saucier to reduce braising liquid into a thick sweet glaze, or if I use my griddles for things like making Lebanese mountain bread, homemade tortillas, quesadillas, pancakes, fermented dosa crepes, pressed sandwiches (paninis & tortas), burgers, steaks, bacon, blackened fish, eggs, et al., the Etekcity 800 is incredibly handy for rapidly spot-checking the temperature status of your griddle (so you can finesse it accordingly), and also finding any patterns of uneven heating that occur in your setup {TIP: CI is a poor thermal conductor, therefore the slower you heat it, the more evenly it heats}. Different foods like different temperatures too. For example, I like to work at around 500-550F when searing off freshly stretched mountain bread (see photo), which is very thin, and prone to overcooking if your griddle/plancha is too hot. Things like crepes and dosas are even more temperature sensitive, and a thermal gun is indispensable for helping you to stay in the ideal temp range, for significantly better results and less food waste. Likes: * Ergonomic: It’s very fast (under 1 sec), accurate (+/- 2%), lightweight (4 oz), easy to use (very simple and intuitive - reading the manual is purely optional), easy to read, and has a thermal range (-58F to +1382F) that fully covers all my needs, and with plenty of room to spare. * Battery: The specs list 14hrs of cumulative runtime per 9v battery, which is more than enough to last you a year or more, even with regular daily use. * Sensor Aperture: This unit features a sensor with a nice high DSR rating of 16:1 (read: tight aperture), meaning if you hold it at the recomended distance of 14.17 inches, the circular diameter of the region being sensed centered on the siming dot is 1/16th of that, or roughly 0.88 inch (about midway in size between a Nickel and a Quarter). Minor Nits: * Battery (-1/2 star): I’m a big believer in eco-friendly rechargeable, but the designers of this gun opted for a 9v battery design, which while great for low-draw devices like smoke detectors is easily my least favorite, and least efficient formats when it comes to rechargeables. Although there may be some valid technical reasons for the 9v use, I really wish they’d gone with 3.7v 18650’s instead, or perhaps 1.2v AAAs, both of which are highly friendly to low-self-discharge 1000+ cycle rechargeables, and are easily available. * Sensor Reticle (-1/2 star): First, some disambiguation - although this product prominently mentions “laser” in the name, it only uses the laser to provide a single bright dot (your aiming reticle) so you can see where you’re pointing the sensor - the laser is NOT the actual sensing mechanism, nor does the diameter of the dot reflect the diameter of the region being sensed, which many may find confusing or unintuitive. A better pointer design would be a laser ring (multiple dots), instead of a singular dot, with the diameter of the ring matching the DSR rating of the sensor aperture, so that you can see EXACTLY the size of the area being sensed at any given range. Despite these 2 minor nits, I still highly recommend this device, which has become one of my top 10 favorite culinary tools in my kitchen.
