WEN 55201 Magnetic Oil Dipstick for Inverter Generators (compatible with WEN, Yamaha, Predator)

This is a great upgrade to the plastic oil plug that comes with the generator. If you want to break in your generator properly (you tube it, lots of great videos), you should also use a magnetic dipstick/plug to help capture little metal fragments that can damage your engine and float about in your oil, especially during the break in process. This helps to grab those metal shavings and you can pull them out and get them out of your engine. This is a cheap but incredibly easy and useful tool to help the longevity of your generator.

Bought this for my new pressure washer. Wish I had known about this for my last one. Prolong engine life of your small engine by cleaning metal shavings out between oil changes. My son is a mechanical engineer and he recommends it to keep small engines protected. Each time I run my mower and my pressure washer I take it out and wipe it off takes metal shavings out of oil easily and prolongs engine life.

Can't yet speak to longevity but it seems well made, fits like it should, and is magnetic. Glad to have this upgrade, though it should just come standard with generators

It's really hard to see the oil level on this one. The magnet is good and is picking up the metal debris during my break-in period but I'll probably switch back to the original dipstick after I get all the metal out since it's easier to read the oil level on the stock one. The magnet does it's job so it's worth the money if you want your motor to last long. It's excellent to use when you first get the generator or motor to pick up metal debris. You would be surprised how much it picks up. The picture I've posted is after I wiped it off and stuck it back in. All that black stuff is magnetic metal debris from the new motor. People say break your engine in with conventional oil for the rated break-in time range and then change the oil but what I'm doing (suggested by my motor head brother) is run new generators for only a 3-6 hours and change the oil, then run for another 6-8 hrs before changing again, then the run it the rest of your rated break-in period before changing and switching to full synthetic.

This WEN 55201 Magnetic Oil Dipstick fits the igen2500 and ipro2500 as they share the same M18 x 2.5 size. Note that if your oil is new and clean, it may be difficult to see the oil on the shiny silver color. I use the original dipstick to check oil level or just tip the generator slightly with dipstick removed to see if the oil is full to the threads. Oil was just changed and this magnetic dipstick added. Will check at the next oil change to see if any magnetic metal particles have collected on the magnet and update this post.

Einen Stromerzeuger hatte ich immer schon. Jetzt war es Zeit für eine Neuanschaffung. Ich bin seit Wochen am recherchieren. Während all der Videos über diverse Aggregate bin ich auf diesen magnetischen Ölstab gestoßen. Na ja dachte ich mir, gerade für ein Neugerät, wo man den Motor eigentlich ''einlaufen'' lassen soll und der Generator über keinen eigenen Ölfilter verfügt, ist das Teil eine gute Idee. Ich hatte die Möglichkeit zwei Neugeräte zu testen bei denen ich, jeweils entgegen der Herstellerangaben, einen Ölwechsel bereits nach etwa einer Stunde machte. Tja, was soll ich sagen: das Öl war voller Abrieb und größerer Späne. Nicht daran zu denken was passiert, wenn der erste Ölwechsel erst nach 20 Stunden gemacht wird, wie es der Hersteller vorgibt. Also habe ich mir diesen magnetischen Messstab besorgt. Bei meinem Neugerät habe ich diesen gleich mit dem originalen getauscht. Der neue Generator (mit null Stunden) wurde auf den ersten Start vorbereitet. Nach etwa einer Stunde Laufzeit habe ich das Öl gewechselt. Bereits in der Auffangschale konnte ich fast keinen Abrieb erkennen. Danach hab ich den magnetischen Messstab entfernt und war überrascht wie wirksam dieser die Partikel aufnimmt. Noch besser konnte ich es dann erkennen, wie ich das Teil reinigte. Mehr sage ich dazu nicht. Die Fotos sagen alles. Also, wer seinem Generator etwas gutes tun möchte, der macht mit diesem Messstab nichts falsch. Der Motor und alle mit dem Öl geschmierten Bauteile danken es mit Langlebigkeit.

Appears to be a solid and very good quality product. It fits perfectly in an old AC Delco 3000 watt generator from 2007 with a Lifan 196cc engine ( engine family : 7CLGS.19668F ). I have been trying to find a compatible oil dipstick for this engine for over 10 years, as the original plastic one broke in half and was unusable. Many trials and failures later, this is the only dipstick that fits this engine perfectly.

I have a 2000w Champion inverter generator (the older square model). Didn't take long for the original plastic drain plug threads to get a little chewed up and become a pain to check the oil. Took a chance on this fitting (as wasn't listed as a compatible fit). To my delight, it fit perfectly, and is a solid upgrade to the plastic dipstick original to the unit.

Used this in my champion 1800W inverter ad a cheaper alternative to the purpose-built one. The threads match, though the shaft is a bit shorter. Nevertheless, the magnet has been able to hold onto a good bit of filings throughout the breaking period and I'll leave it on permanently now. The large knob with heavy knurling is a nice upgrade from the OEM.
