Welder.
I have only used this welder for few small jobs but it worked perfectly. Very precision and easy to control, Good price and I didnt have to charge it since I got it for about 10 jobs I have done.

Ease to use
I used it to replaced dead cells in a 20v impact wrench battery. I set power to 11 and weld cells together using included nickel strips. Original plates are too thick for this tool. Battery life is very good. It is enough to weld 5 cells without problems.

Limited use depending on thickness of metal
I have an OEM DeWalt battery here that failed. Upon checking it, I found that 2 of the batteries were bad. I used a 1/8" drill bit to partly drill each weld out to weaken the metal in those spots, then used a screwdriver to pry up the metal weld tabs so it could be reused. The original metal was much thicker than the metal given in the kit to weld with. Here is what I found using the original tabs on the battery pack. I tried using it to weld on the thicker part at half power. It did nothing but leave a tiny mark on the metal. I then adjusted the setting to the highest or strongest setting. At that setting, where the metal was thinner because of drilling the old welds out, it did make a weld. But when I tried it on the thicker part of the metal, it still would not weld. Upon hitting the same spot consecutively, one after another, it did make some connection. Not sure how good though. If I angled the welder at 45ยฐ on the edge of the metal, I could get a weld too. again, not sure how good each weld is.. but with multiple small welds on each tab, it seems to be holding. Knowing all this now, I would suggest that if you need to replace batteries, if possible, I would not try to use the original welding tabs, but use metal more like what is included in the kit, as the OEM metal tabs on the battery are too thick of metal to use this on easily. Basic questions answered. Yes, I did clean up where the old welds were by grinding any high spots off with a cut off disk on a Dremel, and then flattening the metal with pliers with no grooves. Also, the whole time I was using it, I had it plugged in because upon getting it, it did not have a full battery. I was connected to a 3 amp USB power supply. I don't know if this made any difference. Final thoughts. This is good for welding thin metal, but not thick metal like in battery packs, like the 20v DeWalt ones. Doing all my different testing let me know the limitations of this device for the next time I need to replace batteries in something else. As they say, live and learn..

DOA unit.
My unit was DOA. It doesn't turn on. It displays a charge indicator when I plug it in, but the power button doesn't do anything. Held it for two seconds, nothing. Held it for ten seconds to reset the device. Still nothing.

best welder we ever had
Simple ,reliable, the STD design has foot pedals cables ,power hook up .... This works with no cable issues and you can't accidentally damage it with bad alignment ...

Alright for temporary fix
Struggles to make a strong connection even on the highest setting. It will either burn a hole through or not even leave a mark. I've seen a lot of other reviews that say similar things. The only time it seems to have enough power is right after taking it off the charger.

Inexpensive nickel strip spot welder
This device takes some getting used to. It works ok using the thin nickel strips provided. It holds a charge fairly well. I would recommend having whatever you are working on secured so you can concentrate on holding this device as it wants a certain pressure when you are doing the spot welds. The different current levels definitely have an effect so it is a good idea to try several settings if the first weld does not happen as you want.

Positively surprised
After shopping and reading reviews (all over 4 stars) I have decided to take a chance with this oneโฆ Bare in mind that I have only tested it for 3 welds on 18650 batteries Yet results are beyond expectations If you take a look on my actual images, not only the weld was strong using 0.2 pure nickel strip, it teared up the strip when I had to use pliers to take the battery off the strip, * using the highest gear (11) and respecting the recommended 45 degrees angle: I have yet to use it for several hours but so far everything points to a solid cheap option. Bought with my own money, not sponsored, in Quebec, Canada I will update if major flaws arises Cheers
