Beyond Horse Massage: Introducing the Masterson Method

It seems like magic, voodoo or something but somehow this actually works. My husbands horse has a sore back, nothing would help, you push on it and he would almost sit down. A friend worked the Masterson method for about 15 min on him and it was fine. We had to get the book. My daughters horse who would never turn her head to the right, now will. It's easy, the horses like it and the book is well written with good pictures. We also got the video but the book goes into much more depth. It explains what things will cause problems, the areas to work on and how to do it I highly recommend it to anyone who wants their horses to feel good. It all works for some reason, just as well as a chiropractor and massage.

Read and learn to use this method. It works! Great for your horses and helps build trust as well as making them feel better.

These easy to follow instructions will not only help your horse they also help build a trusting relationship between handler and horse. At first I thought it was some joke, how could such a subtle thing make a difference. Well, it’s amazing. My horse is finally comfortable and I’m not waiting for the chiropractor to adjust and spending all that $. Meanwhile my horse is more focused and useable than before. Cant say enough good about this.

I'm a physical therapist and I think the techniques in this book are great. I have been using them on my 24 yo Arab and my 10 yr old dressage horse with excellent results. The book is clear, easy to follow, with accurate description of anatomy and mechanics. He focuses on horse initiated releases which are more profound and have longer lasting results than normal massage. He has two dvds out, they are the same, so don't buy them both!

Since it's winter and there's not much else I can do at the barn, I thought I'd give this a try as a way to spend a little extra time with my two horses. I've been studying and using the techniques for a couple weeks now and I've been amazed at the changes I've seen in just that short amount of time! The soft expression on their faces tells me how much they enjoy it. And I've noticed that they just seem to stand a little more relaxed and move a little more relaxed. Jim Masterson does an excellent job demonstrating the techniques on the DVD, but he does talk a little too fast. My only complaint would be that the tracks of the DVD are organized into easily assessible chapters from the main menu. The main menu gives you the option to select a chapter, but when you click on the option, it won't open a menu to allow you to actually select a chapter. You have to play all and then skip through the different sections, remembering the title tracks at the top of the screen so you can find the chapter you want again. (Or maybe it's just a defect in the disk I have, perhaps??)

This method is easy to understand and really helps the horses. I highly recommend both the book and DVD. The book stays in my car with me to take to the barn. The DVD helps clarify some of the movements and responses from the horses. The book and the DVD are two of the best things I have ever purchased to help my horses.

Like any book or DVD on any subject, take what you like and leave the rest. All horses won't enjoy or respond favorably to all the treatments in the Masterson Method, Some Love it, some pick and choose what they like. I've been working on people and now horses for over fifteen years, and I have found that rings true with any modality. That's why I always try to learn as many different ways to work out problems as possible, you can never have too many tools in the box. I enjoyed the book. I had purchased the DVD earlier, and I got a good feel for Jim Masterson's personality, which for some reason made the book easier to follow. I will continue to use it, I think he is a wonderful teacher.

Have watched this DVD over and over again and every time I find another little something to add to my lnowledge and understanding. A wonderful tool for anyone who wants to help their horse and bond closer. This method is great because you are not doing it to your horse you are doing it with your horse The way Jim presents this DVD and his easy informative manner make it easy to watch, easy to understand, and put into practice yourself.

CD und DVD, beides sehr empfehlenswert. Gut erklärt und umsetzbar, auch für Pferdebesitzer ohne Vorkenntnisse. Das Pferd zeigt mit seinen Reaktionen, dass es sich wohlfühlt und entspannt. CD und DVD habe ich nur in Englisch bekommen. Gute Englischkenntnisse würde ich hierfür voraussetzen.

Not something you can conquer overnight, but it has made a huge difference to my horse.

I bought this as an Xmas present for my other half as after recently getting an Equine Touch practitioner out to perform it on our horse, we've both been blown away by how effective it is, and she's interested in learning how to do it. The DVD is great and Jim gives clear, practical and well thought out instructions on how to perform the various horse massage techniques.

Love it! Want to follow up with more training. But this has been an excellent start! Amazing!
