Beautiful, well made and perfect blend of form and function. The rich wood frame is solid and looks very high quality - - grain is visible and lends a warmth to an otherwise utilitarian dial. This is exactly what I was looking for. This clock is hung above our butler's/service ware pantry that's adjacent to the kitchen, next to the dining room and also visible from the family room. I wanted a clock that looked rich and stylish enough because it's visible from all those areas, yet also wanted a utilitarian dial that was large and clear and that could be read at a glance; meaning no roman numerals or swirly fancy numbers. This fits the bill perfectly. The clean numbering and warm wood also fit our MCM accents too. This is the first time I'd heard about using zinc carbon batteries in clocks. I'd always thought it was better to use longer lasting Energizer lithium batteries so you wouldn't have to get a ladder out for battery changes that often. I never knew that could damage the clock. I bought carbon batteries this time but it's only been several weeks so all I can say is that it's keeping time as well and accurately with these batteries as other clocks have using traditional Energizer lithium ones.

I purchased this to go into my office. It's aesthetically nice, the wood finish is a nice matte, and its quiet.

The clock looks fine, but I tried to pop in an amazon rechargeable battery and it wouldn't fit. Apparently regular batteries are just a smidge smaller and the compartment on this is tight. I've not had a problem like this for any other clocks I own, and I'm not about to buy throw-away batteries at this point, so I returned it. If you are okay with that limitation, you might be happy with this clock.

Looks great but unfortunately continues to run slow and then stops all together. Thought it was bad batteries multiple times but even after buying carbon batteries only lasted 2 weeks. Donot recommend.
