Do I need to pre-drill the screw holes?

Yes. Use a 9/64-inch (3.57 mm) drill bit to pre-drill each screw hole before assembly.

What should I do if a screw becomes difficult to tighten?

Tighten slowly. If you feel resistance, loosen the screw half a turn, then continue tightening carefully.

How can I make the screws easier to install?

Lightly coat the screw threads with wax or oil before tightening to help them drive in more smoothly.
