Great for PS5 memory
I bought this for my PlayStation 5 to expand the internal memory. I have been struggling with storage space and was constantly having o try and decide what to remove from my console so I could add another game. I did a fair amount of research and this was one of the more prominently suggested brands to go with. It’s not the cheapest in price but then when compared to others for memory size and speed it is fairly priced with great speed. I don’t get any lag when playing games that are stored on it. It was very easy to install and didn’t require any additional hardware or tools to install. A straight forward m.2 plug in with a single screw. As a solid state drive it makes absolutely no noise when used. Compatible with PS5 internal storage bay. Allows me to more than triple my internal storage for games. A must buy for those who want a nice selection of games installed.

Blazing-fast Gen4 SSD that runs cool, perfect for PS5 & PC
I bought the Samsung 990 PRO 2TB with heatsink to add fast storage without messing around with aftermarket cooling, and it absolutely delivers. Install was straightforward (standard M.2 2280), and the built-in heatsink is a big plus for tight spaces like the PS5 expansion bay or compact PC builds. Performance feels instant: games load noticeably quicker, large file transfers are snappy, and everything just feels more responsive. The drive also stays stable under heavier use thanks to the heatsink, which helps avoid throttling and keeps performance consistent. Pros Extremely fast PCIe Gen4 performance (great for gaming + heavy workloads) Integrated heatsink = easy, clean install (especially for PS5) Solid build quality and reliability so far Cons Priced at a premium compared to some alternatives You’ll only get the full benefit if your system supports PCIe Gen4 If you want a top-tier NVMe SSD and don’t want to worry about temps, this is an easy recommendation.

Fast, perfect for gaming
The Samsung 990 PRO 4TB with the built-in heatsink was a huge storage upgrade in my Rog Xbox Ally X. Installation was simple, and the heatsink fits perfectly without blocking anything in the motherboard. Performance-wise, this SSD is extremely fast. I considered using a microSD card instead of this but the the microSD card won’t support AAA games. With this SSD card I have installed multiple AAA games and still have storage room for installing future games. Extremely happy with the investment. The best part is the temperature control. Thanks to the built-in heatsink, the drive stays cool even during long gaming sessions. I haven’t had any thermal throttling or drops in speed. If you need lots of space and top performance for gaming handheld Rog Xbox Ally X—this SSD is definitely worth it. It’s one of the best upgrades. Pros: • Very fast read/write speeds • Built-in heatsink keeps temperatures low • Easy installation • Quiet and reliable • Plenty of storage for modern games and apps Cons: • Higher price than some alternatives, but the performance makes up for it

Solid Performance Boost 🎮⚡
I've used the Samsung 990 PRO Heatsink SSD for about a year and a half in my setup. It appears to be made of high quality materials, featuring an in-house controller with a nickel coating for better thermal management. Supposedly, this drive reaches near max performance with PCIe 4.0 and provides the best power efficiency, though I am not personally measuring the wattage at my wall outlet every second. It is awesome. The value is good for a 1TB drive that hits read speeds up to 7,450MB/s and write speeds up to 6,900MB/s. It is a perfect fit for the PS5 or desktops meeting the PCI-SIG D8 standard. The random read and write speeds are significantly faster than the 980 PRO, which helps with 3D modeling and data analysis. It has RGB LED lights for style, which is helpful because everyone knows red lights make your data move faster. If your computer still feels slow after installing this, the problem is likely sitting in the chair 💺 I recommend using the Samsung Magician software to monitor drive health and keep the firmware updated. This ensures you maintain that top performance without overheating issues 🖥️✨

Great SSD, wait for the prices to lower
Works quite well, fast and efficient, but wait until the prices to drop to purchase. It is not worth almost 4 times the original amount.

Be sure to enable Full Performance Mode using SAMSUNG Magician software for system stability!
After installing the SAMSUNG 990 PRO w/ Heatsink SSD 2TB drive, I saw an immediate performance improvement. However, my computer occasionally restarted due to errors and booted from my old 970 EVO secondary drive because the 990 PRO was no longer visible to the system. When this happened, the blue light on the 990 PRO was not illuminated. Powering down the computer and restarting it would restore the 990 PRO as the boot drive, but the error would happen again. I tried moving the 990 PRO to a different M.2 socket, but the problem continued. Eventually, I enabled Full Performance Mode in Samsung Magician's Performance Optimization menu, despite a warning message that it might cause excessive heat and void the warranty. Despite the warning, after changing to Full Performance Mode, Samsung Magician reports that the 990 PRO is running at a normal 37 degrees Celsius. Since enabling Full Performance Mode, I have not had any system lockups, unplanned restarts, or blue screen of death (BSOD) errors. I only had problems when running the Samsung 990 PRO drive in the Standard Mode or Power Saving Mode. I don't know whether the problem is with the drive itself or the Microsoft NVMe Driver in Windows 11, but setting Samsung's Full Performance Mode stops it from happening. I highly recommend these drives as long as they are configured in Full Performance Mode. I hope sharing my experience helps someone else avoid falsely concluding that the Samsung 990 PRO drives are trash due to an easily corrected configuration setting. My Windows 11 Pro system configuration: CPU: Intel Core i9-13900K, GPU: Nvidia RTX 3090, SSD: Samsung 990 PRO with Heatsink 2TB (Boot Drive), SSD: Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVMe PCIe M.2 2TB (Secondary Drive), RAM: G Skill Intl F4-3200C16-16GVK 4x16GB, MBD: Asus PRIME Z790-P WIFI D4.
