Perfect for daily use
The Anker PowerCore 5000 mAh is the perfect grab and go power bank. It’s small enough to fit comfortably in a pocket or bag, yet it delivers enough power to fully charge my phone once with a little extra to spare. Charging is fast and consistent, and Anker’s build quality feels solid as always. It’s great for commuting and anytime you need a quick backup boost. Simple, dependable, and super portable, an excellent little power bank!

Excellent on-the-go power solution
Here are my thoughts on the Anker PowerCore 5000 Portable Charger after a few weeks of use: PROS: - Securely packaged in an eco-friendly and frustration free packaging with all the usual instructions and warranty/contact information. - Ready to go once taken out of the box. - Excellent build quality with a premium feel that Anker excels at against other brands in this category. - Small unit comparable to a very small TV remote which has no problem being placed in a bag or even a pocket when charging despite it's cylindrical design. - The supplied travel pouch and micro-USB cable are quality additions which make a product of this price feel premium. - Capacity wise, I've found that 5000mah gets me about two and a 1/4 charges on my iPhone 5C and one and a 1/4 charges on my OnePlus 3. - The fast charging technology with PowerIQ is a bonus which provides the fastest possible charge for your device up to 2A. - 18 month warranty with excellent customer support at Anker. CONS: - Lack of a flashlight. - Slower charging times than devices with QuickCharge or Dash charging. - Heavier than expected. SUMMARY: Having tried a few cheaper portable chargers which have subsequently been returned, I keep coming back to Anker. It's not hard to see why - excellent build quality, great customer support and decent value prices. A really good on-the-go power solution.

Decent upgrade, more to be done
Originally purchased to keep my iPhone from shutting down thanks to Apple’s iOS release debacle, I really benefited from this tethered with both Burst Mode™ and Slow-Mo™ as they required a lot of processing power on my older iPhone 5S and put it to sleep. However, when not relying on raw processing power I need the iPhone to last a long time for Time Lapse videos, and can safely leave the power bank attached for a few hours while the sun goes down. Recharging the power bank takes time, all devices do, and this is the downside to anything with a battery, but more so with the included cable; being the standard black USB cable with no flair what so ever. It really looked untidy on my desk area and as I was using an InCharge Lightning-USB mini cable (I was a Kickstarter backer for the original micro-USB/Lightning keying clip) with my iPhone, then why not get one to tidy up the cables during charge time, Urbo sell them in a matching red colour after all, and although costly, they make a great pair. The Aukey USB3 hub here makes for a neat solution if you want to keep charging cables to a minimum, the aftermarket options really do work well together, although there is a little gap between the surface and the battery bank with this setup, but the cable is stiff enough to handle the stress (USB dust plugs: “"726141002" (TYPE A)”). Originally I had a 3350mAh one of these from Anker, this 5000mAh version is a fair bit larger, and heavier, but it was the only one they sell in a red colour (originally hoping to find purple). I don’t see why (aside from getting customers to pay more) that Anker couldn’t make the smaller 3350mAh version in the colours that the 5000mAh come in? The little button to indicate remaining battery is nice, it a common feature, but about the only extra I expect on a portable battery, I don’t need it to be a torch etc… In order to improve this product: • Make it available in more secondary colours like purple, green… • Partner with a company that uses graphene battery chemistry to reduce charging times to just a few minutes • Partner with a company that can integrate open standard contactless charging (hopefully full wireless at some point)

Perfect Travel Companion
If you travel extensively and rely on a smartphone and tablet, an external battery power bank is essential to take with you. Without one, it is not always convenient to find an electrical outlet on the road, especially if you are hours away from your next stop. It is also never fun fighting for an outlet at the airport or in case of emergency when caught stranded off the grid. If you rely on Bluetooth, maps or other location features, your device's battery will drain even faster. So, if you have experienced any of these scenarios, you will appreciate the Anker PowerCore 5000. As one of Anker's newer compact units, it boasts PowerIQ technology, safety circuits and a full 2A of charging output whenever you need it. You will have peace of mind knowing you can recharge quickly whatever your circumstance. Personally, I keep Anker power banks in two cars and take two others when I travel. I carry one with me, and the other goes inside my luggage. The cylinder shape and light weight make it ideal to carry in a pocket, purse, backpack or computer bag. The PowerCore 5000 is my new favorite to carry due to the ability to charge either an iPhone 6s or iPad Pro. Charging the iPad was something my older Astro 5300 barely managed, although the similar physical size was perfect. The new PowerCore 5000 now charges it with ease. 5000mAh can also keep my iPhone 6s going another day and a half. I only wish it had a built-in flashlight. I have owned Anker power banks for over five years and they have never let me down. They have also saved me from being stranded without a connection more times than I can count. Attached is a photo showing the size of the PowerCore 5000 to some of the earlier models.

Pretty good!
Little sceptical about the capacity, but i really didn't want to buy the 10000+mAH battery banks as they get quite heavy and bulky going past 5000mah. Anyway, Tried this one, and i think its "fairly" compact. The round cylinder design is not small, yet not huge enough to be a burden. Lets say you're going to get some interesting looks as you walk down the street with it in your front trouser pockets. The best i can compare the size to is a tube of Smarties chocolate. Charging the battery bank takes about 60 - 90 minutes for me. Initially I was getting roughly 1 full mobile phone charge before it indicated low. But after usage and a couple charges over night - i found i was getting just under2 full charges for my Samsung Galaxy s10+. So it seems when you get your new battery bank - you'll need to use it and fully charge it a few times before you get full capacity out of it. The only major con i found with this product is the input port used to charge the battery bank - its still using a micro USB instead of a USB-C, meaning i have to carry a dedicated micro usb cable around with it rather than use the same cable i use on my phone. A minor con ( which i think they should also improve) is the power indicators, there are only 3 lights indicating the amount of charge left in the battery bank. I would like it in a future update that they add some extra lights (maybe 4 or 5 lights) to help me better gauge how much charge is left. Would i recommend this? Yes - its not too heavy and the size is just about right. Its simple to use. Yes the micro-usb is an annoyance, but i can live with it. I do hope they will update this product with a USB-C input soon!

Quite good
So got one of these as it said fast charging technology. Should have look more into it. I use an S6 Edge and it came with a fast charger. This gets my phone in about an hour charged up, and I hoped this would as well. It doesn’t. Other than that, I actually have no issue with the battery. It works good, it’s able to charge both my S6Edge and the missus Note 3 once, to full charge, so it does indeed have 5000mAh, not like other power banks from other producers that shall remain nameless, that couldn’t hold a candle, were way more bulky and heavy. It fits into the inside pocket of my suits jacket and isn’t very noticeable, but tailoring might also be a factor with that one. It comes in a brown box, like many other things do these days, it have a mesh carrying case with draw strings, which is good for the presentation of the product, but I got rid of it, as it served no purpose, and with a micro USB cable, which doesn’t leave the battery. I think I might become a fan of this producer. It works good for me, as my phone tends to get to 80% before I leave in the morning and reaches 38% by 11:30 (that be 11:30 in the a.m.). Warmly recommend this (and that is not a referral to the fact that the charging unit tends to get warm during...well during charging).

A Must Have Item.
I purchased the Anker PowerCore 5000 roughly a month ago, in black and find it to be excellent. It’s so neat and robust to look at and feels nice and smooth in your hand. Not heavy at all. It comes with a lead for charging the Powerbank, also, a very useful little bag. All packaged beautifully in a box with instructions. I bought this to take on a trip to Australia with me, to charge my iPhone 6s, plus my iPod Nano, this it did admirably. I wasn’t sure if there would be charging facilities on the planes. There were as it turned out but it’s nice to be prepared. I took it with me on a trip to the mountains also and it did all that I expected it to do, still with power to spare. When it arrived it was about a third charged, so I charged it fully, this took a couple of hours. I then tested it out on my 6s, my iPod and my iPad mini and was pleased with the results, it charged all of them probably from about half way, still leaving plenty of power in the Powerbank. My daughter was very taken with this also, so naturally, doing what Mothers do, I bought her one. She chose the white and said it’s “Brilliant Mum” takes it everywhere. As with mine, fits easily in your bag. In the little pouch provided. I complimented my purchase with an Anker PowerLine +11, foot long lightning cable. This too is an excellent product and one you feel is safe to use with your gadgets and is of high quality. I initially wasn’t sure if I wanted a cylinder type one or a flat one, ideally I would have liked to try the two different kinds. I did have a moment when my “Smartie Tube” one rolled off the seat on the plane and I was wrestling it from the feet of my surprised traveling companion in the row in front. My fault entirely however. Well, I didn’t get to try the two kinds, I chose this type and it’s a little piece of equipment I feel is a definite must have. Would highly recommend this product.

I'd avoid it if you were hoping to rescue your phone from total drainage and wanted to use intensive functionality like GPS navi
It will charge, but it won't "Charge Rapidly". If you have a Nexus 5x, Nexus 6p, or Pixel device, then you should note that the output is only 5V/2A = 10W and this is enough to charge the device but isn't enough to do so rapidly. Fast charging in latter Android devices require 5V/3A = 15W which is the USB-C standard. However the PowerCore 5000 doesn't support the USB-C standards and only charges such devices using a USB 3.0 to USB-C cable, delivering 10W over that cable and not the 15W required for fast charging. It still works as a battery pack, and will suffice for top-ups. I'd avoid it if you were hoping to rescue your phone from total drainage and wanted to use intensive functionality like GPS navigation (screen and sensors constantly on) as you'll likely be draining it faster than you could charge it. Cheap and cheerful top-ups = Good Fast charging for emergency intensive use = Not so good
