Described by Variety magazine as “really about as good as rock documentaries get”, the long-awaited, official King Crimson documentary by Toby Amies will be released in physical form in November 2022 as a two disc Blu-Ray/DVD set, following its showing at select UK screens and on-demand services on 19th October. Includes the full documentary film, an early edited version of the film, the final performance of the classic ‘Starless’ from the band’s final ever concert in Tokyo, Japan in December 2021 and four trailers/shorts. Review: My wife says, I am a really sad man! (but I’m not now!) - I discovered King Crimson at the age of 15. their first album, changed my life and musical listening habits for ever. I now own literally hundreds of CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs of their live performances, remixed, albums and surround sound offerings. The recent exposure Boxset also demonstrates Robert Fripp’s major contribution to a wide variety of other artists. BUY IT NOW - even 50 years late is not TOO LATE !!! Review: Much about King Crimson - I like this box set, as I am a Crimson fan from the 70’s. Several members are talking from the past how it happend and changed the Crimson story. And there are live shows from a Rio concert and from the studio.

Great documentary of an iconic band
Only downside was I was hoping it would be longer. Was over too soon.

Frustrant

Interesting.
Very interesting. But somehow I had other expectations from what still is one of my favorite bands.

A must for die hard and new fans
The documentary did not really cover the entire history of the band but the interview footage is very interesting to watch and the music more than makes up for it

A MOST ABSORBING FILM
As a long time King Crimson fan/follower since its great debut in 1969( In The Court Of The Crimson King) I have followed the band ever since. That album had as its subtitle: An Observation by King Crimson and there lies the clue of this film. One needs to view this film as an informative observation of a working band from uninterrupted moments rather than as a film that arguably follows a scripted process. In this way, Toby Amies has captured King Crimson in the most revealing manner. This film does of course feature many interviews and informal moments that will surprise and captivate its viewers. At times it pulls at the emotive strings particularly when former member Ian McDonald reveals close-up with head in hands that he hopes leader Robert Fripp can forgive him for leaving the band in late 1969. Other touching moments include a discussion with percussionist Bill Rieflin. He is so friendly and relaxed yet he is dying from bowel cancer and passes prior to this film being released. Guitarist Jakko Jakszyk also has things to say. And former member Andrian Belew also adds his view. Leader Robert Fripp is unusually open and informative and his words are to be well absorbed. He really is the essence of the band. In The Court Of The Crimson King - King Crimson at 50 Film - Expanded is without doubt, the best ever on its subject, Toby Amies has created the most amazing film.
