Best brace..ever!
It is January 1st 2020. Back, at the end of August 2019, I was loading bags of crushed marble onto the back of a truck (to use on the side path of my house) and a bag shifted, bending my left thumb backwards. The pain was excruciating. I saw my orthopedist. He put me in a plastic, custom moulded, removable cast/brace. Because I opted not to have the cortisone shot, he said it would be two to three months for it to heal. I'm a guitar player, martial arts teacher and I lift weights. Needless to say, this has put a MAJOR crimp in my life. The pain is so bad that my wife has to help me put my socks on...so embarrassing. I have a recording studio and my band rehearses, records and does videos. I've tried to lay off, but there are times that I have to play. Having been a martial artist for over 40 years, I have a high tolerance to pain. I wrap my wrist, very tightly, and play through the pain. I pay for it afterwards and use ice and heat. Because I can't lift weights (and all this holiday food 😊) I have gained quite a bit of weight...which leads to why I'm writing this review (something that I don't normally do). Afte a while, the cast/brace that I got from the doctor...and wasn't cheap..started to cause me more pain. Sleeping was difficult. I searched for an alternative. I am siting her looking at my graveyard of failed braces. Seven in total. Some I could sleep in, but were horrible for daytime, others caused pain or offered little or no support. I figured that I'd try yet another brace. Based on the reviews, I bought this one. When it came, I tried it on and experimented with different tensions until it felt right. It kept my wrist immobile, while remaining comfortable. Cool! Here's why I'm writing. Just a half hour ago I finished a work out. It's been four months since I've been to the gym. I can't support the weight of a coffee cup...never mind 300lbs at the gym. I have a Bowflex at home. I got the idea that, "since this brace is so good (and adjustable), might I try a Bowflex workout...to start getting back in shape?" That's what I just did. I ratchet up the brace, nice and tight, making sure it was totally immobile, and did a work out. Amazing! No pain during the workout...except for muscles 😊 For the bench press, I got it up to 17 reps with 260lbs (which really doesn't translate to the real world, but still), I usually do 25 reps with 310 on the bowflex (again, not real world weight). I'm thrilled. I can sleep in it, I can workout in it, it's comfortable. What more can I ask for? Awesome brace. Best ever!

Best wrist brace on Amazon
This brace has been a game changer for me. I’ve had them for a few months now and can’t imagine life without them. The brace is incredibly comfortable, very easily adjustable, and perfect for daytime wear. It helps prevent me from straining my wrists too much and offers support whenever I wear them. The size fit perfectly and was easy to adjust as needed. I will definitely be purchasing again once my current ones wear out!

Excellent brace! Highly recommend!!
I’ve tried several braces to try and ease the pain of De Quervain's tenosynovitis and this is by far the best for the value. I ordered a medium and it fits great! Easy to put on and off and doesn’t make my wrist or forearm sweat like others have. Seems to be of good quality so far. The thumb support is the best I’ve had out of the many braces I’ve tried. The only thing I have to complain about is that it’s digging into the top of my hand right under the knuckle of my pointer finger. It could be because it’s brand new so the piping is still pretty solid so I’m hoping once it’s broken in a little bit that stops. It’s not painful it just feels like a bruise is being pushed on but there’s no bruise there. I posted a pic of the mark it’s leaving. The brace isn’t too tight or anything (I made it very loose to test that theory) so as I said I’m thinking the piping is just very stiff since it’s brand new. Overall the pain is much less when I wake up than it has been in a very long time. Very happy with the stability of the brace!

Got thumb/wrist tendonitis? GET THIS BRACE! :-)
If you have tendonitis in your thumb/wrist, GET THIS BRACE!!! It is very good quality, so comfortable, and completely immobilizes the thumb and wrist with 4 different stabilizer plates in order to allow the tendon to rest and heal. I tried a different brace for a while that immobilized the thumb and somewhat the wrist, but eventually had to find a different brace because the metal loop for the velcro on the thumb part of that brace started digging into my skin and bruised the bone so badly. That's when I found this brace, which is much more comfortable, and my tendonitis has improved much more quickly while wearing this one! There is a longer version of this brace offered that goes further down on the arm, but I like the shorter one since it's the hotter summer months now. If you're on the fence about this brace, trust me and get it!! Good luck in your healing journey! <3

Best brace I’ve found so far!
This is my third style of wrist brace and the most comfortable by far. It doesn’t shift during the night, and keeps my hands and wrists in a good position. I love the fact that the support pieces are removable. But conveniently, they don’t stick out either! The straps are easy to adjust, and long enough. The Velcro sticks well, so it doesn’t jab my partner in his sleep. I got one long one for my dominant hand, and one shorter one, kind of as a trial. They’re both comfortable and stabilize my wrist and hand well. I do feel just a little more stable in the long one, though. Two nitpicky things that could be slightly improved: the velcro adheres well, and that’s the most important thing when it comes to the straps. But it’s such a firm Velcro that I’ve noticed the edges create light scratches on the exposed skin of my legs. (If you were more coverage pajamas than I do, no issue. It doesn’t catch on cloth). And in my opinion, it sometimes rides uncomfortably high near my pinky. Another design kind of curved down in that direction and I do miss that.

Love it!
This brace is very supportive and feels molded to my hand. Truly, this is more comfortable than the brace from the doctor and it feels more effective. It feels like the perfect fit and has helped my De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis. Not to mention the cost. I never write reviews but I LOVE this brace.

Dont worry about bulk! These really help w/ sleeping for carpal tunnel!!
Velpeau Wrist Brace with Thumb Spica Splint WORKS for sleeping for carpal tunnel. Don't worry about bulk! Bought these and many others ones for carpal tunnel. Problem started out with a little numbness in first four fingers, especially thumb, especially morning drive to work. After abou 6-9 months I woke up in middle of night with crazy painful numbness in those fingers, but even more in thumb. Finally was told to get spica thumb splint by my primary doc while wait for Ortho doc visit ( which just immediately sent me for nerves test with Neurologist - update coming). These are bulky for anyone, but WORK for SLEEP!! As a lady I stopped wearing them after one night becoming a little annoyed by the bulk at first week of wearing, & I couldn't type on cell before bed, and one hand had a bit of sharp fabric poking up on top seam, plus I had a small scratch on hand & incorrectly blamed this product. Mostly though it was adjusting to fact I'd have to wear a brace nightly. WELL..after trying so many others, I came back, and these are the BEST!!! Get 6-to maybe almost 7 hours sleep now!! Finally put tiny band-aid on fabric and solved pointy bit! Tested out several ways to wear at night only. Dont need to go crazy and pull super tight. For me, Trick is to pull & set with medium firmness the bottom wrist strap, after wiggling wrist a bit. Then looser, with a bigger wiggle in hand, before medium pull and set strap. Over the thumb strap comes pre-set. This does not rub top of thumb, or spot of skin between thumb and index that others do!!! And easily to put on both hands easily on own. Still, as advertisted, the are only for sleeping. I needed another brand to wear with morning coffee where I type on cell or tablet, drive to work, and begin first hour of typing. I use Mueller Reversible Thumb Stabilizer wrist brace for those because fairly easy to type with but have support. Then magically can take off after an hour at work typing with no pain and rest of night till bed. But for sleeping, Velpeau works. So get these!

Good support and protection post-surgery or injury
If you have an injury or stitches around the thumb area, particularly at the base of the thumb, you will want extra padding due to the seams and the hard plastic stay around the thumb. It does provide good protection from additional injury, but even with the built in padding I needed extra gauze, especially due to pins in a fused thumb joint. The only real downside was that one of the elastic ends pulled out of the Velcro tab you pull to tighten the brace. Probably just too many elastics in one tab, as another similar one I bought (less expensive) that uses 2 tabs in opposite directions is holding up better from that perspective. I like the liner socks included as well, plus they sell them separately if you need replacements. It's nice having the thumb built in, vs. buying the tubing and cutting a hole for the thumb, leaving it uncovered. I'd like to see them improve that elastic, it keeps this from being a solid 5. The seams I mentioned are much better than others I tried and if I didn't have all the stitches and pins they wouldn't have been an issue.

Effectiveness and comfort
I have never had to use anything like this before so didn't know what to expect. It takes a bit to get used to it. No assistance needed to put on and off. Fairly comfortable Fortunately it will be for short term use.

Small is still too large for woman’s hand
This would be perfect if it were not made for a man’s hand and arm. I bought “Small” because supposedly it was made for someone with a small wrist like mine. Yet the thumb section is designed for a larger hand (it cuts into the area between the thumb and trigger finger), and the brace is much too long for a short woman’s forearm. I can only wear it for a few hours before it hurts too much and I have to remove it. But it does provide good stability and is well made. Why don’t they distinguish between a man’s size and a woman’s size? Men’s hands and arms are very different from women’s.
