THESE ARE NOT STALE. Read the wrapper, and enjoy.
In large text on the wrapper, right below the name of the candy, is this statement: "For a CHEWY experience, BREAK IT into bite-sized pieces before eating." That's exactly how it works. In unbroken form, the candy tablets are hard. Broken up, they readily become chewy in your mouth. It's kind of nice if this is something a person wants to carry in his pocket. They won't "melt". For convenience, you might want to whack the tablets (still in the wrapper) with something hard, so that they are already broken into small pieces inside the package. These small pieces are not sticky either. They become chewy once you put them in your mouth. To reviewers who complained that these are stale -- don't feel bad, that was my initial reaction, too. Then I read the wrapper.

SO HAPPY to find these!
What a throwback, we all love these! In the past, I've only been able to find them in a few gas stations?! I was surprised & super excited when I came across them on Amazon! I make Candy Bouquet Gifts & I love using these... Fruity Candy Lover's love them too! They taste exactly the same as they did back in the day & luckily these weren't stale like they often are, when purchased from a gas station! Value for money: Individually sold @ a much higher price!!!

So happy to find these...
They were my favorite as a kid and I like them even more now. I can only find them in 1 store in my area so being able to get a whole box was exciting. High price but so worth it.

What the hell happened?
These went from one of my favorite candies to dry, bland and awful overnight. The last package I had were the same as they'd been for years - chewy, long lasting and tasted good. This new package is awful and I don't expect to even finish them since there's no pleasure in eating them at all. They've become dry and crumbly - more like crackers than like the chewy candy they were before. The flavor is there, but feels like they cut the amount of flavoring in the recipe by %75. I thought they had expired, but there's over a year left before they expire. The only clue is the "now! improved texture" on the package that indicates that they changed something - for the worse. Yet another product that's cutting costs by cutting quality. Now I get to drop $43 into the trash can. Thanks.

Very tasty
This is a great candy. Unfortunately, the candy was much harder as opposed to chewy
