Great product
My cat is very limited on the proteins he can tolerate, and turkey is the one he has no issues with. He is feed a homemade raw diet with a completer. Occasionally I feed him canned food. He LOVES this Instinct Limited Ingredient Turkey and has no tummy issues. I love the ingredients and feel good about feeding him this brand. I have reviewed many other top name brands and find this one seems to have the best limited ingredients on the market.

A great choice for a high protein natural wet food..and my cat loves it!
I went on the Natural Cat care blog and researched the healthiest foods to feed my kitten. We first tried Tiki cat canned chicken and at first she would eat it but then decided, "nope, not gonna eat this". I wrote to another brand on the list of best foods and they wouldn't send me a sample. I wanted something I could buy locally and just try before ordering a case! Petco had this food by single cans. I bought 1 each of the duck, lamb and turkey. My now 7 month old kitten liked all of them but will eat an entire 3.5 oz can of the turkey in one sitting! The turkey is also considerably cheaper than the duck or lamb. Our local Pet Supplies Plus will price match if I order a case from them but the amazon price for the turkey was the best I found and easy enough to order this when I need something else to qualify for the free shipping with a $35 order. There is controversy about the special clay in the ingredients but with all the research I did it seems not harmful and possibly beneficial in removing toxins. Bottom-line she is actually eating it more than her beloved Origen kibble (on the best dry foods list) and a predominantly wet food diet is healthier for cats.

DO NOT ORDER FROM AMAZON!!!
Let me start out by saying that the product itself amazing. The 5.5oz cans have a good moisture content (not too much) and all of my 3 cats enjoy the food. Instinct is a very high quality brand wet food and the LID Turkey is the only food my cat with intestinal cancer and hyperthyroidism can keep down without throwing it up. My cats will even eat the whole peas contained in this can as long as I break them up first. The 3oz cans however are extremly dry and even mixing them with other foods/heating them up/mixing them with a small bit of water can not convince my cats to eat them. They are also always a completely different color than the big cans so I am convinced they do not contain exactly the same ingredients. That being said this 1 star review is for Amazon LLC shipping. On the 11NOV17 I received 3 cases of 24 packs of the 3oz cans. I requested a refund and was recommended by Amazon LLC customer support that instead of them sending me a replacement that I should again order the 5.5oz cans and they would ensure I received the correct product. On the 13th I again received 3 cases of the 3oz cans. This time I requested a replacement at no cost to me. AGAIN on the 14th before I hardly opened the box I could tell I received the wrong cans! This time I only got one case instead of the 3 that I had ordered as well. In the meantime I have been forced to drive around from multiple Petco's, Kahoots and Unleashed trying to find this food to feed my sick cat. These cans are in high demand and always run out so I can only grab 6 max if I am lucky. Pictured are the 7 cases of incorrect cans I have received by Amazon LLC with an example can of what a 5.5oz can looks like because apparently these people cannot read.

great ingredients, cat won't eat it.
The ingredient list on this, is fabulous, just perfect, healthy, real stuff. But, my cat will NOT eat it. Even if i mix her other, tastier food in with this? she still won't eat it. I waited 3 days, trying to "force" her to eat it, but, i gave in and gave her back her lousier food. My search for the best cat food continues. So far, my cat IS liking almost all of the various flavors of that BFF series of cat food, so that will probably be it for now, it has good ingredients ---but not as good as this here LImited ingredient cat food, but, if my cat won't eat It? then it is back to BFF brand cat food.

Works for cats and kittens
My kittens loved this food, but my older cat wasnt a big fan. We got this for her because she has issues with fish ingredients. We got turkey, but we're going to try a different flavor.

Mixed feelinngs now
UPDATE: 3 stars My cat started reacting badly to the dry food I mentioned below (I used to feed him Insticnt canned food + a dry food), so now he is exclusively on this food. Unfortunately, this changeover occured at about the time they started adding the peas into the food (he really dislikes the peas) However, my major grievance: the price keeps going up. For a cat exclusively on this food, like mine, I spend over $100 a month (He needs 3 cases per month, since he requires 2 of the 3 ounce cans per day. A case of 24 only lasts 12 days. I need to buy enough for 30 days. Each case costs $35.52 in September 2019. So, about $107 per month which is WAY OVERPRICED imho). It seems that over the past year or so the price has kept going up. I am looking for a new food to replace this with, since I just can't afford such an expensive food. This is unfortunate, as my cat has severe IBD, so experimenting with foods means he will probably be sick for awhile. MY PREVIOUS REVIEW: 5 stars My cat loves this food and I am pleased by how healthy it is for him. He has irritable bowel and this food, in small doses, is tolerated well. He gets 1/3 to 1/2 of one of these tiny cans per day. Any more than that, and he gets runny, which is a shame, because he truly loves this stuff. His primary food is Nature's Logic dry cat food, which, combined with 3/4 teaspoon of pumpkin, keeps the little guy solid and regular. Would recommend this food. So would my kitty!

GREAT FOR OUR CONSTIPATED KITTY!
Our cat had a pelvic injury prior to adoption which caused a blockage 6 months after adoption, had to get anesthesia and a manual "clean out" at 1.5yr old, apparently the pelvic fracture makes him prone to constipation. Different vet said to give fiber but seems like bulk would not help his situation because the colon and rectum is too small. Read about low residue, this food is the closest low residue NONPRESCRIPTION diet. I just make sure to add extra water to it so he doesn't get dehydrated from miralax. But it's definitely this food bc while slowly transitioning him from fancy feast to this, a miscommunication caused him to go backwards in transition (higher ratio FF/LID) and his constipation flared right back up again. Now he's been steady on just the LID and its proven to be miraculous. I can tell how much better it is just by how much easier it rinses out of the bowl! The Fancy feast would stick like glue to the bowl and required scrubbing in steaming hot water and soap. This stuff rinses right out, and even if it's caked on and dried out it still slides right out with hot water alone - no scraping necessary. I figure that must be at least part of what's going on in his intestines. For cats w/ pelvic injury history/megacolon & chronic constipation this is worth a try. It worked for us. No more vet or home given enemas! No more scooting his butt across the floor! I just wish they would come out with food like this for me lol.

Quality of the food
Two of my girls suddenly have developed cancer. They are 16 so I guess it isn't surprising. I am trying to just feed them better food and Instinct is a better food. I can't save them, but I can keep them going as long as possible. So in my opinion keep your cats on good food as much as possible. I also make Buffalo for them to eat. Cat-Mom

Cat won’t eat it; some cans are dented
My cat has been eating Instinct LID turkey 5.5oz cans for more than half a year. It helped her get recover from itchy skin. When we presented her these smaller 3oz cans, she refused to take it. Not a single lick. We noticed that the cans had some dents (as like the big cans), but there was no leak, so we presume the contents are not compromised. The contents smelled a little different from the bigger cans; smelled more like pork ?! Other than that, the consistency of the pate was fine. Very disappointed that my cat wouldn’t eat these smaller cans at all. It’s such a waste of food to throw it away night after night.
