Best tool for bleeding brakes or changing oil. Love this tool. But has some issues.
I bought this unit in the larger size because I have a Dodge Cummins diesel that holds 12quarts of oil. I also have used it on my Prius and on my daughters sailboat Perkins motor. It has worked perfectly so far. Now for the best part. Last week I had to do rear brakes on my dodge diesel 3500. I had ordered the brake bleeder additional part. After replacing the pads I decided to do a brake fluid flush. I removed the master cylinder cap and was able to suck all the fluid out of the dual reservoir and refilled it with fresh fluid. Onto the furthest wheel from the master cylinder, turn the bleeder valve on this tool to off pump it down attach the hose to the bleeder, crack the bleeder and open the valve. Suck out enough fluid until fluid runs clear. Tighten down bleeder screw. Refill the master cylinder reservoir and repeat. Oh man, a one man bleeder and a huge tank so I never have to dump fluid between wheels. This thing worked great! I have used those finger pump bleeder suckers and they just suck at sucking and you have to empty them 3 times per wheel. Those finger pumper bleeders cost 2/3 of what this costs! So simple to use and works great. I will never bleed again with those finger pumps. This is so much easier! To bleed a car or truck was the best part of this tool. Sucking oil is just an added benefit. Buy this, it’s a no brainer. P.S. the screw ring on the suction side of the tank seems backwards. The tube flange is actually on top of the screw ring. The ring-screw does not hold the hose onto the tank. After much head scratching I simply thought it was just incorrectly made. I scoured the manual and ,as is typical of offshore made products, the manual was useless. Then, I called them. They said it’s correct and the ring is under the tube flange to help push the tube flange off if it needs changing. Why don’t they add that piece of info in the directions? Really stupid! If I were the design engineer, I would make the flange fit under the ring and be done with it and rewrite the instructions. It would cost a one time set up and problem solved but I’m not the engineer and it is made in China. All this said, it seems well made, despite that glitch, and I will continue to use this very effective tool. Some have said that the suction tube is too short, and it is. It will not reach into the pan on larger engines and the flexible tube behind the hard tube is too short so the tank can’t sit on the ground when pumping the handle on a large vehicle or one that is both tall and a large engine. Like my 4WD 3500 truck. A 3 foot solid tube pickup and a 4 foot longer tank to hard hose would have worked better. I fixed that at Home Depot for about 10 $ but it seems silly that I have to deal with these deficiencies instead of the manufacturer. Are you at OEM listening?! Fix this.

Deserves 5 stars - Worth the money
I hardly ever write reviews about tools unless they're so bad I need to warn people or they're so good that they deserve the credit and recognition. The good: Largest volume I could find for a manual fluid extractor. This came in handy when I was pulling the transmission fluid out of an Axod Metric AT. It took up everything but an inch or two from the top. Very handy. Very effective suction. I had to pump about four times to extract the majority of the fluid. After that I was basically sucking out small volumes at a time to drain the rest of what was in the pan. The primary and secondary hose design is very convenient. It made the job virtually mess free. The plastic nut that slips under the primary hose connection to the vessel is very convenient, allows the user to gently unhook the hose without rocking a canister full of fluid. The onboard storage for the primary hose suction end is very thoughtful. Also, onboard storage for the two provided hoses is very thoughtful. Its nice that I can unhook the primary hose after a large job and just latch on to something above and let it gravity drain into the main canister. The bad: The cap is a little bit tought to get off. I haven't quite managed to get it yet, but I figure it just needs more effort than I put in. The 1/4" secondary hose does not allow the user to undo the hose and refit with another, like the kind you can get from a hardware store. That would be handy in the case that I want to do a job that is highly sensitive to contaminants, like CVT fluid. I noticed that the primary hose has a 1/4" size insert but I'm not sure if that will hold suction, I'll have to try it. Conclusion: With that said, I think its worth the money. You can pay a little bit more for other units that go for more that happen to have more reviews. I'm not sure why this one doesn't get more attention. I've always been a fan of OEM Tools primary for the quality of their work. I'm looking forward to changing auto fluids now. Cleaner, faster, more effective.

works
Great tool!! drained trans fluid 1 gal at a time from two cars. Suction worked very well. Took under 5 minutes per car. Easy to use and store. Comes assembled. Top does not come off. Make sure the small plug if firmly in its small slot. Connect hoses. Screw on plastic cap at hose connection FIRST. It is to help remove hose connection. Now force in hose connection. It is a pressure fit. To remove hose, unscrew plastic "cap" and it will force off the hose. I was doing tranny. I put a few drops of tranny oil on fitting. Takes real pressure to force it on the first time. To stop flow, just pull out the small plug. 2003 impala tranny was a snap, but oil dipstick tube was too thin at an engineered bend for hose. Oil dipstick tube works on 90 Cad and 86 Chev. Could have taken more tranny fluid, but will do again in a few months. Easy to pour from container into empty tranny oil container. Remove hose from machine and just pour out. Machine seems sturdy, easy to store in my shed. Pumped handle 8 times to get flow going. Twice more during flow. Great device. Very Stable. Oil should be warm to get best suction. Update, This continues to work great. I mentioned that I could not get the set hose to go into the oil sump on the 2003 Impala via the dipstick route. Fixed the problem. I used fish tank filter hose. It is soft and just slightly smaller than the set's small hose. I measured a piece versus the dipstick and left 1 foot extra. I then ran that surplus 1 foot of fish tank hose into the larger set hose. The fit was close but not totally air tight, but tight enough. I inserted the fish tank hose down the dipstick route. The oil was about 115 degrees - any hotter might have allowed that small hose to collapse. I had to pump the entire time, but not very hard. I extracted all the oil! Temp of oil cannot be hot. Cannot be cold, either. It worked because the suction power is that good. Problem solved. I have now used the machine 9 times. Works good as new. My local dump takes used trans and motor oil. I have not spilled a drop using this machine.

Great product but not meant for trucks or large SUV's
This will make fluid changes quicker and less messy. Best suited for cars. I have a BMW Z3 so it will work great for changing power steering fluid and oil. I also have a 2015 GMC Yukon and I bought this extractor to pump out the transmission fluid only to find out that the dipstick tube on my SUV is around 4ft (48"). The dipstick hose for this pump is 41" which I found to not only be too short for my vehicle but the standard length tube sold with all brands of extractors. So even though I can find other uses for this item with my other car it will not work on my primary vehicle. Measure the length of your dipstick before buying to ensure you have not exceeded 41 inches.

Outstanding product quality and functions perfectly
This product easily vacuumed 6 quarts from my Dodge Ram 1500 545RFE transmission. The manufacturer could make it better if they marked quarts/liters on the cylinder…so do yourself a favor and do that yourself so you can know exactly how much fluid you took out and, therefore how much new fluid to put back. The large hose goes onto the cylinder in a counter intuitive way. Leave the screw down hose “pseudo” retainer collar on the threads…do NOT take it off and slide it over the hose! Screw it down then back it off about 3 turns; push hard on the large hose O-ring connector into the mouth of the intake and seat it; then screw the collar down all the way to finger tight. It is a weird design! To pour out the old fluid I removed the hose and poured it out of that hole into the disposal container. Use Dawn or equivalent to clean…just fill half a sink full of soapy warm water and vacuum it into the cylinder. Pour it out and refill with clean water and rinse twice using the same procedure.

No, muss no fuss
I tried getting off cheap and bought another manual one for about $18. It claimed to have 15 reviewers and they all gave it five stars. Makes me question who those reviewers were because it didn’t work at all. It broke the first time I tried to use it. I’m not gonna review it on their site because the seller made it right and refunded my money. This on the other hand was amazing. Very easy to use, did a great job, and above all it did not make a mess at all. It contained the oil perfectly until I poured it out into inappropriate recyclable container. I read a comparison review of various ones and this one was ranked near the top is one of the easiest to use and did not require plugging in which I did not want.

You will be disappointed!
First, the instructions are TERRIBLE; full of warnings and words but no details on how to assemble, use or clean. There's ONE small photo of the assembled unit and NONE of the parts are labeled in it so when the instructions refer to the various components, you have no idea what component they are talking about. NO component fit a standard Ford transmission tube; I had to wrap the face of one of the hoses with tape to try to get a seal. That barely pulled some fluid up and out. And if you're hoping this design will save you from making a mess you will be very disappointed - the semi-rigid tubing flung transmission fluid everywhere. Then, when you go to clean out the main unit you will discover that it is so tightly assembled you can NOT get it APART to clean it! Save your time and money. I'm returning for a refund and looking for a better design from someone else.

Will never change my oil the old fashioned way again!
Great product, I decided to start doing my own changes at the 50k mile mark as my free changes are finished and my last change was done at the Local Valvoline shop to a much disappointing result. Before I let them change the oil in my 2014 Jetta SE (1.8T engine) I asked if they carried VW 502/505 certified oil & they did. They even showed me the label so I can verify for myself. I drove in and had the change done. I have been the only owner of my vehicle, bought new with 8miles on the Odometer and now has 55k miles. All oil changes have been done at the dealer (10k intervals) even when I had to pay, my last one was done at 52k at the valvoline shop (I let way too much time pass between my last oil change). I decided to change the oil again after roughly 3k miles because it got super dark and dirty after so little time ! I know the time between my last oil change could have affected the valvoline oil but I was still shocked nonetheless! I also sent a sample to black stone labs and the results showed the oil was pretty much done and needed to be changed. So I have gone to the method I used with my previous car "2004 Jetta GLS 1.8T" that made it to over 200k miles strong ! 5k mile oil changes using Liqui Moly! And this oil extractor is hands down the BEST tool I have ever used to change my oil. I was surprised that it literally sucked out ALL the oil ! Granted I kept moving around the hose and kept pumping for a while after the majority of the oil came out. But it kept on picking up oil, when I was done I also picked up the bit that stays in the oil filter pocket. After that for good measure I got under the car and removed the drain plug and barley any oil came out. I was impressed! The quality of the pump looks top notch, and it is very easy to use. You have to pump then continue pumping when you notice the pressure dropping. Then when you here the air and barley any oil coming out you just start moving the hose around and continue pumping till no more oil comes out.

Works great!
Two plus years in, this extractor works like a champ. I should have bought a larger size though because some of my vehicles hold 6 or more litres of oil. The unit I bought holds a little over 4 litres. Good quality hoses, extension tubes, etc. Recommended buy for lawn mowers, other yard equipment, or automotive use. Well made and durable!
