Very impressed with the Dewalt DCL050 20v LED Worklight for three reasons: 1) rugged, 2) large, even, light coverage, and 3) long battery life. This light feels rugged and appears to match the quality of other Dewalt 20v power tools. At first glance, the pivoting head seems a bit elongated, but you get used to it very quickly. The rubberized grip and trigger is comfortable and ergonomically shaped. Squeezing the trigger once puts it in 500 lumens (high) mode. Another squeeze switches to 250 lumens (low). A 3rd and final squeeze turns it off. The 140 degree, 9 angle, click-into-position, pivoting head, comes in very handy. When the head is moved into the far downward position (90 degree angle), it makes an outstanding reading light while camping or during a power outage! Not sure how it feels while using the smaller 1.5 - 2.0 amp batteries, but with the heavier, 4.0 amp Dewalt battery it has a very balanced feel to it. For those that need to illuminate a work area in a small to moderate sized space, the well dispersed light from the DCL050 is very effective. It provides approx. 130-140 degrees of distinctly circular, even light coverage. The pattern is similar to an old-school, "flood" light; however, the DCL050's light pattern is even wider and more evenly dispersed---no hot spots, beams, or irritating lines. The vast majority of lights on the market have a focused, narrow, spot-type beam. The DCL050 is not a "spot" light. If you need this type of beam pattern suggest taking a look at the Dewalt DCL043 or DCL040. I might add the DCL050 produces a very white light--not quite blue, but definitely much, much whiter than a typical incandescent light. As for battery life, I believe Dewalt advertises 3-4 hours on the 500 lumen/high position. I can only assume this estimate is based on the use of 1.5 to 2 amp batteries. With higher capacity 4.0 amp Dewalt batteries, I get a consistent 8 hours of light in the 500 lumen (high) position. When the battery is nearly exhausted, the light output automatically drops to 250 lumens and starts to "flash" occasionally in a distinct, programmed fashion---a friendly reminder the battery needs charged/replaced soon. No battery, charger, or belt clip are provided with this light. For those that already own other Dewalt 20v power tools (and already have the 20v batteries and charger), this DCL050 LED worklight is a very useful, functional addition to your existing Dewalt 20v arsenal!

I just received mine yesterday and put it into service addressing an on-demand water heater issue. I used it for a 1/2 hour or so in the afternoon to shine light into my Noritz. Later in the evening I decided to put the front cover back on it so I used the light again, hanging from an overheat water pipe: hook feature is great. However, I forgot to turn it OFF and noticed it still ON this morning, a full 12 hours later. It spent the night on the LOW setting (300 lumens). I find the LOW setting was plenty of light for what I was doing, a nice floodlight beam, and being close to the work. I had my 5Ahr battery attached to it. With the 5Ahr connected, I tested its balance on the floor at all the angles the head allows: no problem on a level floor. This may get a bit wobbly and unstable if powered by a smaller battery at full angle. FYI. Expensive for a small work light, but I went down the DeWalt road and now have a bunch of batteries and chargers so this purchase made good sense and I'm very happy with it.

Perfect for working at home to on the go. I dont know why i did not get one a while ago. I love Dewalt products. They never disappoint..

Been using in the garage with 2 amp battery very helpful. Hi and low light levels interesting, but I only use high. Size is okay and have found several ways to suspend it over engine. Works exceptionally well when working on bench too.

So I originally bought this for use when camping out of my 4Runner I am converting into a camper. However, the first usage has been me working on the darn overly-ginger ECU's on Toyota 4Runners. The light perfectly hands by a useful hook off my hood's latch and provides a ton of light in my dimly lit garage. I went with this as I have quite a few DeWalt batteries now and figured this would be a great way not to drain my AGM and Li-Ion batteries on my 4Runner that I will use for other gadgets/lighting, etc. Battery power seems strong even on the small 1.5 aH slim 20v batteries I use often on my small driver for quick jobs. I did not power it all the way down but it stayed at the highest (3rd) power light on the battery using the worklight at full for at least 25 minutes or more. Considering how bright the highest setting is on that worklight- I am so far impressed. It could use a better way to go thru the light settings and some more options would be good like a red light (good for not killing your nightvision in the evening). Perhaps a blinking option on the hi setting for an "SOS" but that's something I hope never need to use and not typical of a worklight anyways. It would also be nice if the light rotated in other fashions other than just up and down. That would help a lot for when you cannot get the light to hang in the exact direct you want. It seems rather sturdy and even with the slim batteries has been staying up straight no matter the angle thus far. It seems like it should fail but it hasn't for me. The output and build quality were key points for me on this purchase and becuase of that I am quite satisfied so far with this light. Don't flash it in someone's eyes on that hi setting. It is darn bright. Lastly- it is not a spotlight so don't buy it for that though you probably could get by with it. It is not set up to "throw" a beam of light a far distance. It's more in the ranged of perhaps 14'? Haven't measured it out. Defintely will work as a lantern just needs to be for a small party of 1 or 2 folks so you aren't blinding everyone.

Really useful for this backyard mechanic. It could be a bit brighter, but overall a great purchase.

Antes de comprarla ví algunos videos que hablan muy bien de esta genial Lámpara, y me animo a comprarla con mucha expectativa y la verdad es que cuando la probé supero mis expectativas, he estado trabajando con ella en proyectos de soldadura en la noche y vaya que resuleve muy bien, inclusive enel modo de potencia más tenue, ya que el nivel 1 tira muy buena potencia que es para utilizarla con la lámpata a más distancia. En general es totalmente recomendable y si es tu caso como el mío que ya tengo varios productos Dewalt y varias baterias te vendra genial, a proposito la uso con una bateria de solo 2 Ahora y dura como 6 hrs.

Non costa poco, ma vale la spesa. La lampada viene venduta nella confezione originale Dewalt, è perfettamente compatibile con le batterie serie XR da 18v e .... illumina tantissimo. Per far capire l'intensità della luce prodotta, posso dire che, alla massima potenza non si riesce a guardare direttamente i led con gli occhi. L'involucro di plastica è ben fatto e molto robusto. Personalmente la consiglio a chi cerca una lampada professionale definitiva.

Nice and bright and has many angles. Battery lasts a long time as well.
