'It is impossible to read this book without wanting to scuttle off into the kitchen.' Nigella Lawson Foreword by Tim SpectorThe benefits of sourdough are well known - the slow fermentation process creates a healthier and lighter dough that is easier to digest - but until now they have been mainly linked to bread. If it rises, however, it can be made with sourdough, and in this ground-breaking new book, Vanessa Kimbell focuses on sweet sourdough bakes that not only nourish the gut but also improve your mood. Using a variety of flours, including chestnut, spelt and einkorn, as well as blends you can make up yourself, the classic recipes and new ideas for flavour combinations cover everything from cakes, tarts and biscuits, to doughnuts, brioche and pretzels, and rely on natural sweetness wherever possible. Recipes include Morello Cherry Shortbread, Chocolate, Tangerine & Pistachio Cakes, Carrot & Walnut Cake, Doughnuts and Mille-feuille as well as vinegars, compotes, cultured creams, butters and ghee. There is even Chocolate, Almond & Hazelnut Spread and Sourdough Vanilla Ice Cream. Vanessa also explains how sourdough helps to maintain the health and diversity of your gut microbiome. From understanding the benefits of having diversity in your diet to the amazing work of enzymes, this book is about understanding the connection between our food, gut microbiome and the potential impact on our mental health. New studies are unveiling links between the microorganisms in our gut and our mood and behaviour, and Vanessa is at the forefront of this research. 'Britain's queen of sourdough.' - Telegraph'Vanessa Kimbell wants to change the bread we eat, one loaf at a time. She's the real deal: a total inspiration.' - Diana Henry 'Just five years ago if someone said to you that they were writing a book about sourdough bread and mental health you would have thought they needed psychiatric help. Today nobody is laughing as the latest science tells us that microbes are the key link between food and the health of our mind and bodies.' - Tim Spector, author of The Diet Myth Review: Really informative and doable recipes. I loved it. - I love the efforts for the book the way it has explained in detail about the science behind the Sourdough and its benefits for the gut and how we can add on natural diversity by the recipes have been shared here. And how really its easy to make or inspire and create your own recipes from it . It has been beautifully articulated and each photographs are so tempting that it says me try me..try me.. Yes be patient and go through the book and really you can understand how amazingly all the recipes have been curated with the goal of keeping gut healthy with max benefits from a sourdough , a correct method to make it with the natural and organic ingredients. Thank you, loved the book. And recipes are easy to make as well. I strongly recommend a sourdough baker should have in the library as a reference and kitchen for experimenting delicious healthy sweet sourdough recipes. Thanks Review: More than Sourdough baking - This book is a wonderful invitation to loose all fright about baking with sourdough or to get more playful with sourdough baking. It is like a workbook. You can dig deep into it or just bake easy but delicious bread, cakes and other delicacies. I am baking sourdough bread for many years and I also help people to come into sourdough bread baking. For me this was a missing link. I never thought baking with sourdough could be this playful, quick and easy. There are chapters about how to create a starter, how to maintain it, about FAQs, about flour, equipment and about sourdough and nourishment. So everybody can start at his/her own level and can decide how deep he/she wants to step into sourdough baking (different flours or just one kind of flour, special equipment or just what can be found in every kitchen.....) There are three basic recipes and than there are wonderful variations of these basic recipes divided into chapters for the four seasons. This makes it possible to bake at someones level (basic or advanced) and go further. This book is such a wonderful invitation to start baking or to discover that there is much more than bread to bake with sourdough. P.S. I have never been in the Sourdough School

Mucha información bastante buena e importante
Me gustó la información que es lo valioso, lo pésimo la paquetería que fue ESTAFETA viene dañado y pues las políticas de devolución son pésimas, quisiera una opción para reposición más que devolución del dinero.

beautiful book.
Vanessa is a pioneer in the world of sourdough baking and this book showcases her fantastic creativity even more! This book is a worthy addition to any (home)bakers knowledge base, but I would say some experience is required. If you lack that, buy her other book along with this and get stuck in!

A ground-breaking approach to sweet bakes
This book is a complete gamechanger for sweet baking, and works as an ideal sister book to Vanessa's exceptional bread book 'The Sourdough School', which I highly recommend using alongside this to give huge scope to your baking. I started with her bread book and developed my skills in the sourdough process as a member of Vanessa's online Sourdough Club, which covers everything from the basics of creating and maintaining a starter right through to complex bakes, and contains videos of every process you need to be a competent and confident baker. This sweet baking book is not for beginners, but for those who have some sourdough baking experience and want to broaden their horizons to create epic bakes which also support health. Vanessa spends time explaining how the sourdough fermentation can improve gut health, and how diversity in our diet is key for a happy gut microbiome- something we now know is central to good health and longevity. As a GP I am increasingly advising patients about nutrition-with a focus on gut health- alongside my medical advice and treatment plans, and to find a book which covers the importance of this and then provides recipes showcasing ways to do this is truly enlightening. During lockdown I have found the flow and mindful process of baking sourdough to be incredibly healing and has helped to manage my anxiety, and this has been enhanced by the fact that my IBS symptoms and gut health have improved dramatically since I started my sourdough baking journey when lockdown hit proper. This is a beautiful, educational and inspirational book and well worth taking the time to digest (pun very much intended..!) the theory behind the health benefits of baking with sourdough and increasing diversity alongside this. So far the lemon and poppy seed bake has triumphed, but I am working my way towards the miso danish as my confidence builds. Enjoy!
