Crusader Engine Zinc CRU10335 Zinc w/Plug (E-0)

I purchased this to use in the water pump of my Jeep Commander with the 5.7L HEMI. Why? Because there was corrosion present in the sealing surface of the water pump to the timing cover. Yes, I am guilty of not changing the coolant often enough. The water pump had begun leaking profusely around the entire edge and I planned to replace it. Before installing the new water pump, I researched anodes like I had in my boat and had used in aluminum radiators previously. This specific anode will fit the small port on the top front of the HEMI water pump. It is short enough that no modification is necessary and will not contact the timing cover. After cleaning things up really well and using aviation gasket sealer -and- the included new water pump gasket seal, all went back together just fine. Yes, I need to check the quality of the coolant more often. Hopefully this anode will help prevent corrosion in between coolant changes. I will buy more since I have another Jeep with a HEMI.

Even though it’s not the “application” I actually threaded this into the manifold of my mercruiser 3.0. Where I took one of the blank 1/4 pipe plugs out. Had to shave it down in length slightly. Now it’s keeping the interior of my manifolds from corroding. I’ve checked it over the season and it’s working.

Twice already, the zinc part has detached from the part with the threads. That leaves the zinc stuck. The first time I was somehow able to remove it. This time it is really stuck. So this is a bad design.

The zinc I ordered arrived before the promise date, and it's now doing what it's supposed to be doing... it's keeping my generator from dissolving from the inside out... thanks, and I'll need another one in about 2 years...
