Kirk Deeter of Field & Stream and Charlie Meyers of the Denver Post, crack open their notebooks and share expert advice on flies, casting, reading the water, and much more. The mission of The Little Red Book of Fly Fishing is to demystify and un-complicate the tricks and tips that make a great trout fisher. There are no complicated physics lessons here. Rather, conceived in the “take dead aim” spirit of Harvey Penick’s classic instructional on golf, The Little Red Book of Fly Fishing offers a simple, digestible primer on the basic elements of fly fishing: the cast, presentation, reading water, and selecting flies. The Table of Contents includes: Part One: The Cast: 45 Tips to Help You Cast Straighter, Longer, and More Accurately Part Two: Presentation: 60 Tips to Help you Place and Drift Your Flies So that Trout Will Want to Eat Them Part Three: Reading Water: 37 Tips to Help You Find Trout in a Rive and Effectively Cast to them Part Four: 43 Tips to Help You Select, Rig, and Fish the Right Fly at the Right Time in the Right Way Part Five: Miscellaneous: 65 Tips on Fighting Fish, Wading, Choosing Ger, and Everything Else That Matters In the end, this collection of 240 tips is one of the most insightful, plainly spoken, and entertaining works on this sport—one that will serve both novices and experts alike in helping them reflect and hone-in their approaches to fly fishing. Must read for fly fishing
I haven’t been fly fishing for long but I enjoy it and this little red book very much! I purchased one for me and a friend by the time I was half way through. This will be my go to gift for friends joining me in fly fishing. Short reads, great info, a go to over and over for sure. Well worth the price for anyone. Not a full proof guarantee to success but the more time you put in the current the better it enhances this book.

Very Usefull Tips for all skill levels
I have read this book at least 30 times since I purchased it!!! I am self taught, having said that, my quest for knowledge has become an obsession. This book has given me more usefull tips than all of my reading has done in the last 20 years. All in one tiny little book. Charlie and Kirk have presented the information in very plain language, easy to follow and on top of all the info, the book is extremely pleasant to read, and in my case reread over and over. It's the first book I recommend to anyone who asks. Tim O'Connor Vice President Clinton Valley Trout Unlimited

A great book for fly fishing
Very well written. I like how the authors switch off to provide their fly fishing knowledge & experience. Charlie Meyers loved to fly fish and teach others to love it too. This was the last book he wrote. It was published after his untimely death from cancer.

Full of useful information
This is a nice little book full of tidbits of fly fishing wisdom. You could read large chunks of this at once but I prefer reading and absorbing it a little at a time. One of those books I like to take with me (I have it on my tablet and in hardcover) in case I feel like reading a little (another one is William Tapply's Fly Fishing for Bass).

Brilliant book for river Fly Fishing.
This book will suit river fly fishers of all experiences, especially anyone who has not got anyone to guide them. (like myself). The tips start with how to hold the rod, through where to find fish in the river, techniques, to flies. Although this is based on American river fishing, most of it will apply on our rivers. With 250 tips, there is much to absorb for the novice, but you soon pick out what you want to use out of it. I used sticky Post - its on the pages I wanted, and jotted down the tip Number for easy reference

"Little Red Book" is an understatement
I expected more like a booklet, seeing that title and was looking forward to a small collection of stories about my favorite hobby fly-fishing. What I received was a very nice and solid hard cover book with a very cool design, lots of content and valuable advice and quite a high production value. This can be one of the books that you can always keep around you for a casual read for years, reading the advice again. Really, what a nice surpise!
