Dayton Audio TT25-16 Puck Tactile Transducer Mini Bass Shaker 16 Ohm

I have found that anything more than 40 watts per transducer makes them vibrate so violently they rattle their own enclosure. I have a cheap dinky 75 watt per channel driving 2 of these in stereo, and that amp was overkill. I do recommend low pass filtering though, otherwise certain frequencies will turn parts of the seat you are vibrating into a speaker cone, and you will hear it, and it doesn't sound good. The vibration violence peaks around 40hz. When watching movies, I down mix the stereo input into dual mono, but when playing games, I keep the vibrations stereo. Helps with positional awareness, especially since the tactility can be a bit shocking. Take the time to drill center holes for the transducers and mount it like you would a speaker. Otherwise the mounting rim will be nudging against the side of the transducer during vibrations, and it will start making noise from less power than it should. I also own a butt kicker... and that transducer earns that title. You can drive it so hard it physically hurts. Personally, i think that is overkill for most people, and it is much harder to drive for the vibrations you get out. The butt kicker also has tendancies to overheat if kept fully enclosed. The ambient heat from the buttkick melted the pho-leather covering I used to hide it when it was mounted in my living room, so I had to keep it free to open air. For how small these are and how well they perform, I would go as far as to recommend a couple of these over a buttkicker for most people. Even though you can get more out of the buttkicker, it is a pain in the butt to work with, pun intended :)

It is not the greatest quality product since the first time it came defective, but for this price it is all right. Amazon sent me a new one very quick. I had to make some adjustments to the system and it works GREAT. Just few tips for others who might think that it is so easy to use it: 1) It requires an amplifier, I used the recommended by Amazon one: LP-2020A+ Lepai Tripath Class-T Hi-Fi Audio Mini Amplifier 2) if you have a direct sub woofer outlet, you can use adapter like Pyramid RY6 1 Male to 2 Female RCA Adapter 3) if you don't have a separate outlet that you can use, you will need to do some extra work (I have Creative 5.1 speakers so the cables from my PC are going directly to the sub woofer that has outlets for the other 5 speakers; I had to open the sub woofer and make another outlet directly from the cables going to the sub woofer speaker) 4) Do not think that you can plug that shaker to any speaker outlet since it will just play like a very bad speaker; you need to get the signal from the sub woofer line only I didn't drill any hole for the bass shaker, but I took longer screws and I attached that tight to the bottom of my computer chair. Works really great. it is like real sound 3D :) Fantastic effect when I play a computer game and when there are explosions - you feel it like your room is shaking. Recommending to anyone that wants to move his sound experience to a higher level. In my opinion any home theater seating should have the shakers build in; tv 3d + bass shakers that would be the real 3d effect.

I bought two of these and the cheap LePaid class T amp to add some bass rumble to my "bike desk" (a recumbent bike converted to a laptop desk that allows me to work out while I work during the day :) ) Now, with headphones on, I get that "subwoofer experience" with nobody else caring. I can listen to bass-heavy music at whatever volume suits me, and it doesn't have that "disconnected" feeling headphones often create due to bass in the head but nowhere else. They were easy to set up and screw to the bottom of the seat of the bike. The only remaining thing Is thatI am looking for a way to throttle the frequencies over about 350hz out of the line to the LePai. TL;DR - For $9 you can't do wrong. Just order a pair, and screw 'em to the bottom of your gaming chair or working chair. They're awesome.

I consider myself a budget audiophile and my current gear consists of an Emotiva Processor, Multiple Emotiva Amps, Tannoy Precison 6.4 Speakers and 2 HSU Subwoofers. I have been interested in Tactile transducers for a while but never really owned one. Considering I primarily listen to music and have enough bass for my purpose in my system. However, lately due to conflicting work schedules, I am at times forced to watch a movie or listen to music via headphones. Headphones sound great but lack the feedback of a real subwoofer. So I decided to order a pair of tactile transducers. Like many of you I was unsure between the AuraSound and the Dayton transducers. So I ordered a pair of each. Ultimately, I ended up using both of them. Here are my observations 1) A decent tactile experience needs more than one transducer. 2) The AuraSound transducer is much larger and produces much more vibration than the dayton transducer 3) My butt can handle a lot more vibration than my head can. So, after a bit of experimenting, I decided to put the AuraSound ones at the bottom of my seat and the Dayton one behind the back. (Less vibrations in my head, more on my body). If you have an amplifier than can handle a 4 ohm load, buying the 8 ohm version of each and wiring them in parallel will work. Else, buying the 16 Ohm versions and wiring them in parallel will be the way to go. I tried a few different amplifiers on these transducers, and came to the conclusion that high end features of amps like THD, Signal/Noise ratio etc, doesnt make much difference in the over all experience of these transducers. As long as you have 20 watts or more of RMS power, you will do fine. The class D amps on sale here serve the purpose. In my case, I brought a cheap onkyo reciever from craigslist for $ 40 and added a subwoofer crossover to the output to filter out the higher frequences. (Crossed over at 80Hz). Removing the crossover creates a subtle difference, but if you have a subwoofer out that has a low pass filter built in, you may not need a crossover. As for the final effect, I didnt tell my wife that I had these in our couches. At first she thought the vibrations were from our subwoofer, but then came a scene in the movie that she remembers distinctly (a scary scene). And she literally jumped out of the seat. And the amusing part of this experience was, the subs were switched off. As some other reviewers have noted, these can make up for a decent experience without using a subwoofer. Like a gaming scenario or while listening through headphones. For music only, I prefer to switch these off. I bought one of these initially and loved it so much I bought 4 more. I put one in my recliner on a cross brace in the back. This one is more than enough to shake the entire chair. I put 3 in my couch which my son sits on to watch TV and he loves it. I bought the LP-2020A+ Lepai Tripath Class-T Hi-Fi Audio Mini Amplifier with Power Supply to power these, and it works perfectly. The coolest addition to a home theater experience. My only knock is that the wire from the speaker is very short and a very small gauge. I used the smallest wire nuts I could find and had a bit of trouble getting them to work. If you are looking for a more economic shaker system this is it. Just a quick build note. I made my mounts using a pine fence picket. You can buy these for a couple bucks and individually at one of the big hardware stores.

when i just got it it was wonderful, the reason for just a 3 star rating is because it seems now to not be working as good as when i first got it, but that could be down to a change in the amps i am using

The sound quality is great, plus it's very easy to install and the overall quality is amazing. Also the vibration is very nice for it's size.

Ordered 2 of these. 1 arrived in a completely non-working state. Sent it back and ordered a replacement. The replacement was non-functional too. It's not my amp, because the working one is fine in either L or R channel, but the broken ones work in neither. 1 out of 3 success rate and counting :(

These little transducer pucks are awesome to put on your pedals. I put one on my gas and one on my break. They're fantastic. I used one of their larger pucks for underneath my seat.
