WORTH EVERY PENNY
Beautiful Motherโs Day gift! Watching them grow into butterflies was an amazing experience. My mom loved her gift and so did everyone else who seen them transform. Totally worth the money! Iโve purchased this already 3 years in a row!

Beautiful experience for all ages
This is a wonderful learning experience and great Easter tradition for all my grandkids. All 10 caterpillars survived and flourished into beautiful butterflies, that we released on Easter day.

8/10 arrived dead
In one cup, all 5 were already dead. 2 were buried under the food and none developed past the tiniest caterpillar stage. The other cup was in the same box so I donโt know why 2 survived and are growing but I canโt even find the others. Iโve always ordered directly through insect lore website without issue, but thought this would be easier. They will replace it but want me to send the cups backs?! I feel very wrong mailing the 2 live ones where they will surely die in transit back at this stage.

Always fun for the kids (and adults)
These are a great activity for children to learn about the life cycle of butterflies. We have raised these for 20 years each summer in my home daycare. The kids love watching each stage, today they are hatching, which is very exciting. Arrive quickly and in perfect condition. Typically 4 of the 5 caterpillars make it all the way to butterflies. Sometimes they all do, but on average over the years it has been 4. Be careful when releasing them as birds really like them and having kids see a bird snap one up right in front of them was a little traumatic that year. We always release near flowers so they have a food source right away.

Typically a good experience
Typically this is a great experience. I have been ordering caterpillars for years and have had no issues. This time, one caterpillar in each cup never got any bigger and i had to release them so they didn't mess with the other 4 that went into their chrysalis. I was expecting that all 8 butterflies would have hatched over the weekend, but when I got to my classroom this morning, it looks like 4 (all on one of the lids) are almost black and i think they died. I have NEVER had this happen and I, along with my class) are really disappointed. Hopefully next year it will be better.

It's Nature
I would give it five stars. I am only giving it three so those that need to know this will know this. I am glad you get two cups because the first cup is fine, but the second one four of them made it to the pupa stage, but there was one caterpillar that kept climbing everywhere. The rest went into the pupa stage yesterday morning. It is 8 pm now and that last one still isn't in the pupa stage and he was a saboteur. He knocked all the other chrysalis down. I think that some of them may be okay because they were hardened a bit more, but he took one down yesterday right away and I think that one won't make it. I think this is a good learning opportunity and how nature works, but if you have sensitive children be aware that this can happen.

Already getting into Chrysalis upon arrival
I ordered 10 caterpillars, however, only 6 out of 10 made it into Chrysalis form and 3 have fell from the top of the lid attempting to latch. Now I have 3 laying on the ground of the habitat and 3 that have managed to properly latch to the lid. Because they took so long to arrive 4 died attempting to chrysalis because the box did not create the still, fragile transport that would have been required for them to latch to the top of the lid of the cup. I am hoping the 6 remaining chrysalises survive and can still hatch properly. My complaint is that they were already out of the caterpillar stage upon arrival. Timing is everything with getting to properly experience this and have it work out.

Caterpillars
I thought caterpillars would have been great to see their stages of development. Unfortunately the perishable package was opened by CBSA and the containers with caterpillars were disturbed and they died. I will not reorder.
