Better than n95s
I like these masks for their tight seal, and they capture MORE than an n95 -- they are as suitable for germ prevention as n95s, but the added nuisance vapor layer greatly reduces fragrances and gas and wildfire, paint fumes (not just particulate) for a few hours (depending on how stinky things are ) -- and the exhale port helps prevent your breath condensation buildup. If you need to not spread your own germs just add a little surgical mask over the exhale port (but for wildfire smoke etc -- or when no one else is wearing a mask to prevent disease spread) protect yourself without the sweatyness of an n95 with no exhale port.

My favorite respirator because it works great!
I've purchased the 3M Particulate Respirator model 8577 several times over the past few years because I have found these work the best for me. I first became acquainted with these when I had to attend mandatory meetings for work, which were being held in a meeting room in a casino in Mesquite, NV. The smell from the smoking of cigarettes and cigars was overwhelming and made me sick. Using this respirator I was able to attend the meetings and still breath at the end of the day. The activated carbon is fabulous in absorbing the smoke from the air before it reached my mouth and nose. I especially like the cool flow valve on the front that aids in exhaling easily, minimizes the fogging of my eyeglasses from my breath, and helps keep my face cooler than when using the models that don't have the cool flow valve. I was using this respirator model long before Covid and now I buy them in packs of 10, which at $50 is about $5 per respirator. I've also used this when painting water based latex paint and haven't had any issues with the odors.

Better than good
When looking for a protective mask, most people don't know the difference between these paper type masks. Most people think they are all the same, but NA-NA, most people end up getting simple paper that filters out ONLY dust particles. Well that's good for dust and wood chips, but not the fine gases and potentially dangerous chemicals. This P95 is for the more problematic vapors you may run into, yet it is not PROOF. It is however much better than the plain paper nusance dust mask. If you work around nusance vapors & gases, this is the one you should get. I see far too many nail & polish workers using simple paper masks, and they truly need this P95 to protect their lungs and sinuses from those thinners and base solvents used in the Nail & Polish Shops. P95 uses finer filter papers and CHARCOAL filtration to accomplish what simple paper can't do. Get this and be better protected.

Works Great, But SUPER Uncomfortable
I work in an office with several folks that apparently BATHE in cologne and perfume, which give me migraines. This mask works wonders in filtering out the noxious chemicals. But the length of the straps is FAR too short. After wearing this for just five minutes, I had red marks on my face, and my ears turned BRIGHT red from the pressure. And I am a 5'3" woman who is fairly petite. I understand that a tight fit is needed, but not tight at the Marquis de Sade level!! Not sure how I can wear this all day long. And another reviewer had it perfectly - it's painful on my nose, even after adjusting it with the clip.

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS)
I ordered these for my spouse, and it was a game changer. Unfortunately, the Dr office has an employee that thinks running essential oils is ok. Was wearing normal gator mask at time of exposure. Started having a massive MCS attack. Fortunately, had these in the car and got one for them. Put it on but the damage was done. Had to go in next day and wore the mask with a gator mask over. It was 100 times better than just the gator. For anyone with chemical sensitivities these are worth the money!! We are ordering more and leaving in the care, house, and garage.

1st order of 8577 was perfect but the past 2 reorders have been wrong product
We use the N95 model 8577 for cleaning with sporicidal agents in pharmacy cleanrooms and they work fabulously. The problem with this supplier or maybe Amazon itself is they keep sending me model 8511 which is completely different and does not block fumes. These products are not interchangeable!! Very frustrating!

Perfect for wearing if smells are an issue or fumes
I am allergic to smells, cologne, perfumes, all chemicals, smoke, and cooking smells. I use these all the time in the house and also for cleaning my stamps when crafting. If used over and over, they do start to smell like the area you are using them in; such as the cleaner I use for cleaning my stamps. No other issues with them when using on the bus, airplane, etc.
