Mine worked great for a while, but now it lost its friction and slides everywhere. Is there any way to make it sticky again?

I have had my mount since 2009 and I still love it. Although the grip has decreased and it does have a tendency to slide if I take a corner to fast, I just cut out a bit of shelf liner with holes in it and use that as a dash pad. I think it's called grip liner. No need to toss a perfectly good item away if it can be saved.
