Looking at the previous reviews, it looks like there are two different versions of this map that people are receiving. Mine shipped from the U.S. and took two days to arrive, and the quality of the map is excellent. I think there may be a cheap Chinese knock-off that some people get, not sure why. I *loved* the one that I got. The paper is thick and durable, with a smooth matte coating. The background is a dark grey and the colors are rich and vibrant. I didn't find it difficult to scratch off the foil, but I was being slow and careful about it. I had the map on a table and scraped the edges of the countries with my fingernail and used an eraser to remove the rest and it came out great, no scratch marks on the paper at all. My only (very small) gripes are that the countries in South America are all the same shade of red, and northern Eurasia is all teal. There is a small amount of color difference in other parts of the world, but it's minimal. My other complaint (again, super nit-picky) is that there's relief shading for a lot of it, but not for some countries. Colombia, Ecuador and Peru are home to the Andes, but there's no shading at all, while Chile and Argentina are shaded. Some people have complained that the map doesn't fit in a standard frame which isn't entirely true. It's made in the UK, so it fits European standard A1 frames but not typical American frames. Find one online or at a specialty frame store and you're golden!

I work at home and have clients in several different countries. I wanted to find a map for my home office that I could use to keep track of my business without making it look like a schoolroom. This one caught my eye because it looks trendy and decorative, and it would also make it easy for me to highlight the areas that are most relevant to my business. The map arrived quickly and it looked great! It was packaged in a sturdy cardboard tube that was sealed on both ends and could be opened and reused, like one of those cylindrical wine boxes. It looked nice enough to give as a gift (and I know a few homeschoolers who are trying to get their kids interested in geography, so I will definitely be keeping this in mind). I had a few concerns before I ordered the map. I was worried that the paper might not be sturdy enough to withstand having the top layer scratched off, or the scratch-off coating might not leave clean, sharp edges. A wrinkled map with a top layer that kept flaking off would look awful. So the biggest question I had was whether or not it was made well using quality materials. After trying it out, I am happy to see that it was an EXCELLENT purchase!!! The scratch-off material doesn't flake but can be removed cleanly when you want it to. It is printed on strong paper that hasn't wrinkled even though it is hanging on a textured wall. The colors are vibrant and eye-catching, and I learn something new every time I reveal another country. I would definitely purchase this again, it's a wonderful product and I am so glad I decided to get it.

I love the map, and the idea of scratching off places you've been to, currently I've been to 19 countries and MANY cities/states. I got this on sale and my sister and I love it. My first issue is that, yes I do know you have to use erasers instead of coins (or something similar), and I did use erasers, but man! It takes SO long to erase the foil, you really have to put your back into it. But it looks great. My second issue is that I wished the states and cities are already outlined on the gold foil because I had to look at map references to know where to erase in for example the United States, because I've never been to all of it. My third issue is that some areas have been double-printed, after erasing the foil and black outlines, there's ANOTHER black outline underneath. I don't know if that's included but it's certainly not necessary once you take out the foil. And my last issue, Making the United States in almost the same color UNDERNEATH as the gold foil is confusing. You can see the contrast as well as the other countries. I guess we only have so much colors. These aren't big issues. They're fine actually, I can live with it. I like the map and I'm getting it framed.

I purchased the Luckies Scratch Map as a gift for a friend who loves traveling, and it was a huge hit. It is a very thoughtful and unique present for anyone who enjoys exploring new places. The person I gave it to has actually taken it as a personal challenge, scratching off new countries as she visits them. She really enjoys having a worldwide visual of all the places she has been and the memories she has collected along the way. It turns travel experiences into something tangible and motivating. The map looks great once scratched, and it is fun to see the colors underneath. Overall, it is both decorative and meaningful. Highly recommend as a gift for any traveler or adventure lover.

This map is different from other pushpin maps. As you scratch off the countries that you’ve been to, cities, little details appear. It’s packaged in a fun way that leaves the recipient being unable to guess what you just gave them. The map comes from England, so for now of course there’s a tariff. When you look at their site in England, there are more maps to choose from. But I just wanted a big one to give to my friends. Amazon gave me the best price.

Be gentle with your scratching, yet persistent. I used a key and gently went after my target areas for a while. It's easy to scratch through the color, which means you're basically scratching through the poster/paper itself. Also, the smaller locations don't have color, so when you scratch it it's just a nondescript kind of black/gray. But this is a nice-looking map, and good enough for most people. I don't regret buying it, and it's fun to see how many places I haven't been. It encourages me to see more places and travel more often.

Originalissimo, esteticamente è molto bello con la carta nera e i paesi colore oro. Grattando non ho riscontrato problemi, è facile e non si rovina un bel niente. Le dimensioni sono quelle in descrizione, da appendere fa la sua bella figura. Consegna puntuale e nessun danno, si trovava nel suo tubo originale con tanto di tappo e per di più in uno scatolone ben protetta (spedizione GLS che non delude mai). Davvero soddisfatta tanto che ho deciso di comprarne uno per il mio ragazzo, ottimo prodotto.

A scratch map that doesn’t scratch?!! Unbelievable

Me encantó! A mi y a mi pareja nos gustó muchísimo! Lo guardamos en el tubo en el que viene pero lo colgaremos cuando nos mudemos. Vale la pena!!

Diese Weltkarte ist wirklich super! Sie kommt in einer hübschen Rolle und die Oberfläche wird extra durch ein dünnes Papier geschützt. Ich habe sofort angefangen, die Länder abzurubbeln, in denen ich schon war, und das hat viel Spaß gemacht! Ich benutze dazu allerdings keine Münze, denn die ist bei den kleineren Ländern nicht genau genug, wie ich finde. Stattdessen benutze ich so ein Metallteil, was glaube ich eigentlich zur Nagelpflege gedacht ist, es hat eine stumpfe Spitze und eine Kante mit der es gut geht. Die Länder unter der abrubbelbaren Folie sind schön bunt und die Namen von großen Städte werden sichtbar. Ich würde allerdings jedem, der sich diese Karte zulegt empfehlen, sich erst sehr genau anzugucken, welches Land genau wo ist, denn im Eifer des Gefechts habe ich aus versehen ein oder zwei kleine europäische Länder, die nur durch Zahlen markiert waren, weggerubbelt weil ich sie einfach nicht gesehen habe. Was mir beim Kauf nicht ganz klar war, war die Unterteilung der USA. Ich hatte gehofft, die Bundesstaaten wären nochmal einzeln unterteilt, das sind sie aber nicht. Das ist die einzige Stelle an der Karte, wo ich mir mehr Details wünschen würde, der Rest ist wirklich sehr detailliert und am unteren Rand der Karte gibt es sogar noch zusätzliche Infos über hohe Berge etc. Etwas merkwürdig fand ich am Anfang, dass an den Küsten stets ein kleiner goldener Rand quasi im Wasser ist, den man dann wegrubbeln muss, was teilweise nicht ganz einfach geht weil es irgendwie ganz leicht "verschmiert", man sieht danach Streifen auf der Karte. Insbesondere beim Hudson Bay war das ein Problem. Man kann dies aber beheben, indem man mit einem ganz leicht angefeuchteten Tuch über diese Streifen wischt, dann gehen sie weg. Ich denke inzwischen, diese Ränder sind deshalb da, weil die Goldfolie einfach nicht ganz so detailliert ausgeschnitten oder aufgeklebt werden kann wie die tatsächlichen Küstenränder wären. Ist aber auch nicht schlimm, das tut der Schönheit der Karte keinen Abbruch. Mich persönlich motiviert ein Blick auf die Karte immer wieder, weitere Reisen zu planen weil es noch sooo viel auf der Welt zu sehen gibt! Die Karte ist ein toller Blickfang im Zimmer und wirkt insbesondere durch das schwarz recht edel. Ich bin gespannt, wie sie in 20 Jahren aussehen wird!
