Hello. How is this used? Can it simply be laid on a page rlor does one always have to have a free hand to hold it?

You do need to hold it 4-5 inches away from the print to get the effect of the magnification. You could rig a clothespin attached to a post of some sort that would hold it for a stationary magnification device.

Does it come with a sleeve to protect it?

they come in little plastic sleeves which would not be permanent ,only for shipping. I do not find these worth buying. They do NOT help with reading and there is quite a bit of distortion.

will this work on a 15 inch laptop screen?

The focal length states 2.5 - 3 inches, implying that distance necessary for magnification. Advise looking for a specific computer screen mag device. Also, can't your laptop be adjusted for larger print on the idsplay?

"Floppy" = thin it' just not thick enough to support it own weight?

It is thin but only slightly floppy if you hold it on one end. I haven't found the slight bend to be much of an issue. I have no problem lightly supporting it on both sides, occasionally, either, if I want to see what I am looking at without the slight visual "curve" that happens when I hold it one-handed. It's about like what progressive lens bifocals do to your keyboard and your computer screen if you move your head. Hold it lightly two-handed and that effect goes away. I love the handiness of the little extras, perfect size for purse or maybe a man's wallet.
