Perfect pool for our ducks. Pictures in review. Updated!
This makes an excellent pool for our two ducks, due to the height of one foot, and it being 4 foot square. My husband plumbed it so we can empty it every day and refill it easily with a hose. The corner bottom drain plug that comes with it is very small and weak, so replacing it was a must. This pool has withstood a lot from us as we built our duck coop around it, stepping inside it, scrubbing it, etc. It seems pretty durable, but we did go ahead and buy a spare, since our entire coop design kind of depends on this pool. The ducks love it! It was easy to put together and is pretty high quality, except for the small drain plug on the corner. So far we highly recommend! Update: July 2, 2017 This pool is still in great shape and easy to clean (with vinegar). We ended up redoing the drain plug with a better drain system. It didn't tear when we took off the old one and it withstood all of the twisting of the new plug to get it setup. The ducks have access to their pool 24/7 and love it! We empty it daily and despite hard playing by two happy ducks, this pool keeps going strong. (Knocking on wood).

Very sturdy, great design
Arrived today. Much sturdier than I anticipated. Pipes are painted metal, not PVC. Pipes that go on the top rim are covered in what I think is called "closed cell foam". (It is the same material as pool flotation noodles.) The foam makes the top edge of the pool comfortable and safer. The vinyl is quite heavy. // We set it up on a piece of plywood, then covered the plywood with yoga mats to protect the vinyl and make it softer when sitting. The pool is mainly for our giant breed dog to cool off. The only product negative is the instructions are minimal. Here is what I learned. In the box you will find two packages of long pipe pieces (with closed cell foam around most of the length of each pipe). These two packages with four pipes each appear identical, but they are slightly different diameters. Mark one set so you will know which bag they came from. The two sets of poles/pipes are slightly different diameters. Note that on each pole the foam is closer to the edge at one end. Taking one pole from each bag, pair the poles by putting the two ends together where the foam is closest to the edges. One end will fit inside the other end. Do that for all four sets of poles. Each pole (with two pieces snapped together) will be 48" long. Then put the poles in the top edges of the pool. The rest of the assembly is quite obvious. One other comment-- if you order the pool in green, note that it is a pleasing spring grass green, not florescent green.

Meh - Read the review
I bought this for my dog because the walls of the folding dog pool kept collapsing and finally there was a hole. This time I decided to get a framed pool, it said it was something that could be taken down and put back up and it sounded simple. Also, I saw a lot of dog pics. I read description and decided to order rubber itnerlocking panels to put in the bottom to protect the pool from his paws/claws when he digs in the water. The pool arrived and I was impressed with quality. I saw there were no tools required and thought yes! Then I put it together and the plastic pieces that lock the aluminum rods together are complete junk and kept slipping up and own the pole. I'd finally fight the material to put the rods in place and then have to pull it apart, move the plastic thing and start over. At that point I wished there were tools! I reminds me of my raised dog bed but with that I had to use an allen wrench and put 6 bolts in and it was so easy! This really irritated me. All because they saved money on plastic pieces. I can tell you once you put this together you are not taking it apart. Also, there is no claw protection on the bottom. It's literally like a raft, pure plastic. Nothing to protect it from anything. So I ordered 4x4 feet of rubber interocking pieces and do they work? not really because the frame is 4x4 but the bottom of the pool is 3.6 x 3.6 ish. Now I'm going to have to use my exacto knife to jb weld the floor pieces together because the pool is quite big so i can lift the pool to put it on it's side because there's no way I'm taking it apart. That would be a nightmare and I'll return it before I take it apart. So, the aluminum frame is 5 stars and if you have kids it's padded so that would make me happy, the material is pure plastic, no rip stop, no padding on the bottom, no protection on the bottom. If you have a dog or kids with sharp anything you're likely wasting your money and poluting the environment by buy more than one of these. I wish the company would change the plastic clips that float around to metal that stay in one place OR I would prefer to just bolt the legs on ideally and be done with it. Also, if it says 4x4 at the bottom it should be 4x4 - square, not rounded, square because that's the description. And I would LOVE it if the company made the same thing, but offered an upgrade to rip stop material which I would happily pay for. That would be awesome. So bolts please, and rip stop please. That would be my ideal dog pool.

Quite pleased - UPDATE 2 summers later - even more pleased!
UPDATE: 2 summers now we've had this and it's been excellent. No rips, tears, pulled seams, etc. I have knee issues, so when I sit in it to play with the dogs, I do use a corner to help me stand back up. Right at the corner it has been sturdy enough to feel confident it won't break on me (just be careful you don't wiggle it too much while using it to help you stand, that may make a difference). Both our dogs are medium-large-ish. Both are Plott Hound mixes, but one is shorter and solid (mixed with Staffordshire), about 38 lbs, and the other is taller and lanky (mixed with b.lab) about 50 lbs. The taller one likes to run over the pool.. as in she'll be running in the yard towards the pool, and run right thru it out the other side. On her way in she makes it a kind of pounce to splash more water. It's really cute, but I mention because I think it speaks to durability. Running thru like she does, her nails could easily tear the material if it was cheap, and this thing has stood up so well to that I've been impressed. We've had no leakage issues either with the material or the drain. It's still functioning well (I do empty and change the water about once a week in the summer). So even more happy with this than we were in the beginning. -------------------------------------- Original review: Ours arrived quickly; it was yellow, not the blue pictured, but I like that better anyway. We have 2 doggies and got it for them. Husband put it together by himself with no issues, but he said the corners can be a little stubborn. The material is excellent - not too slippy when I splash around with the doggies in it, and it doesn't feel like their nails are gonna be a problem with it. We put it on our back deck since our yard is all a slight slope, but having read other reviews, we took the precaution of situating the drain at a space in the boards. It drains slower than it might on land, but that's not a problem for us. It's pretty sturdy - I wouldn't suggest an adult use the frame for getting up/down, but I feel quite confident that a child below age 8 or so could safely use it for support. It's also got a padded sleeve you put on the PVC before you run the actual pool material on it, makes it a little softer for children. We've only had it a week so I can't speak to its lifespan but it doesn't feel like cheap materials at all.

Good Product but Disappointed
I purchased this pool for my water loving dogs. I read the reviews and a lot of people purchased this for their dogs as well. It was easy to set up, great size, held water, (no problem with the plug) and sturdy. My worry was having the dog's claws would be able to puncture the lining when playing in it. So when looking at the reviews to see if anyone else had the problem with that, no one stated that, so I decided to give it a try! I have a German Shephard and a itty bitty Pitty, and they loved jumping in and out and splashing around in the pool. However when I drain the pool at the end of the day, I noticed several holes and tears in the lining. That's were I was disappointed in the product. I only got in one use out of it. I did try to seal the holes so I might get 2 uses out of it but its too much money for one use.
