this works well, do not pay attention to the negative reviews. the only way you know it's working if you smell the vapor and your nose feel clear no runny noise you can breath normally, then you know it's working fine, and it works better if you use more then one use three or four. get a four pack of the pads. and you should be fine. it's helping me to fight my allergy's this is a better alternative to the water vapor you do not half to worry about leaking water or filling it up with water. so i am happy with this item,

When my young son got sick with a very stuffy nose, we ordered these to help with his congestion. He doesn’t like the vapor rub because of the burning sensation, so this is a nice alternative. These are VERY strong. After turning this on the lowest setting and leaving in my son’s room for less than two hours, I could smell the vapor from outside his door. Please note we were using this in conjunction with a humidifier. He didn’t seem to be coughing or complaining as much, but I worried that the scent being too strong would irritate him. After three hours I went into his room and removed it because of the strength of the product. I could still smell remnants of the vaporizer in his room the following morning. Seems great for large rooms and sick adults.

Does the trick but the units have some quality control issues. I ordered two over the course of a couple weeks, and the little pegs in them that hold the pad (there are two, one for each pad slot) in place were all bent up in one so that it's hard to get the pads both in and out. Realized after receiving the second that one of the pegs in the first is super loose and actually lets the pad fall way down in the unit so you can't control how strong the vapor flow out is and have to turn it upside down and shake to get the pad out when you need to change it. Really helps when you're using it, but overall it's rather expensive for a small plastic wall plugin that should really just be a couple bucks, especially so to have to try and tweak and reposition the pegs yourself to get it to work well.

I bought this while my wife and I were suffering from congestion from a head cold. We got tired of smearing Vicks under our noses every night before bed and I remembered when I was a child that my parents would put Vicks in a "vaporizer" that would fill the room with that smell of eucalyptus and gun grease and greatly relieved breathing difficulties caused by a stuffy nose. A little on-line research revealed this little plug-in device that, ostensibly, would provide the same relief but without the mess and hassle. Well, we were both sorely disappointed. We even bought an extra pack of the little strips that go in this thing. The directions say "DO NOT TOUCH" the exposed strips (after removing them from the wrapper) with your fingers. I don't know what happens if you do (Do your fingers fall off?) but that in itself makes this difficult to load and refill, which has to be done every night, by the way. After the first night's use, we did not notice any difference. There was no smell of Vicks in the room-- the only way to smell anything was if you put your nose very close to the unit where it was plugged into the wall outlet. The second (and several consecutive) nights I doubled-up on the strips (which the directions say you can do) but neither of us noticed any difference. It was, in my opinion, a complete waste of money, except that I used Amazon points to buy it. The extra strips, on the other hand, we paid cash for at our local pharmacy and they were expensive, considering they don't really work, as near as either of us could tell. We've gone back to the tried and true method of smearing Vicks under our nose whenever we have nasal congestion.
