Does it work with retropie plug and play?

It works plug and play on anything Rasbian based...this is the official screen put out by the RPI foundation. Since "Note RetroPie is built on top of Raspbian (a linux based OS for the Raspberry Pi)", it's "plug and play"...

Does the brightness of this display allow for easy viewing in sunlit areas?

It does not work well in full sunlight. Not bright enough to see without shading the screen.

How is the sound from this ? i wanna make a music playing pi for my stereo and i need a good sound output, that only comes from hdmi port

Hi biljenkins. Your question is a bit confusing because you are asking about the touch screen product; and it does not have any audio feature. And by the way, the touch screen connects to a proprietary connector on the Pi via the ribbon cable you see pictured under the touch screen. The Pi does have a stereo output headphne connector which produces OK sound. If you want high quality sound look at this brief review of DACs (Digital to Analog Converter) http://raspi.tv/2016/dac-review. I personally am using an IQaudio product and I am really pleased with the quality of the sound. BTW, there are many other companies manufacturing DACs than the three mentioned on the web page I refer you to.Good Luck
