Great first-person-shooter with BANG, BOOM, AND SOCK!
I just finished Crysis Warhead today. My girlfriend gave it to me a few days ago. Disclaimer, I already have SecuRom (unannounced) on my computer from a previous software installation so in no way am I condoning that "copy protection" scheme because I have loaded and played this game. Players will have to decide for themselves if they want to load/boycott SecuRom games. You will need to determine if the entertainment value of Crysis Warhead is worth the possible trouble SecuRom may cause. For the record, I do not like SecuRom at all. But this game is very good. It would be nice if Amazon reviewers confined their remarks to the actual game play of Crysis Warhead and not to the controversial SecuRom. Please do not spam me, Spore me, or boar/bore me with SecuRom complaints or discussions. There are forums elsewhere established to handle that. Basically we already know SecuRom is bad, likely illegal, and evil so why keep repeating it here. Amazon wants game reviews here. If you haven't played the game then I feel it is unfair to post a review. Your cause is just but not for proclamation here. 1. First, I had allot fun playing this relatively short (6-8 hrs) fps in single-play. The game comes with two dvd's and one is for multiplay on 21 new maps. I don't multiplay someone can assist us on that. 2. The installation went better than original Crysis but it is still a bit tricky. I had to insure that my desktop resolution setting was the same as my chosen game resolution. Had to use 75 refresh rate, 60 wouldn't work. I used a moderate 1440x900 setting and at the 2nd highest graphics feature (named "Gamer'). Closed all apps and made sure firewall was either turned off or "Warhead" enabled. Loaded latest Nvidia drivers. 3. Internet connection required for game activation. Bunch of crap. 4. Much smoother frame-rate and play than original. Experienced only a couple of crashes and Microsoft blamed Nvidia drivers. 5. Spectacular graphics for flora, water, cut-scenes. Great music and sounds for action, weapons, vehicles. Should have had more animals. Only remember some rats and a butterfly or two. 6. I had the play set on "easy" and I'd recommend a higher setting for more intense and challenging shoot-outs, and fire-fights... of course better AI for enemies. 7. Good voice acting, especially for main British character, Psycho. Korean voicing abt. same as in original...weird and humorous. 8. Nice variety of weapons with enhancements for scopes, flashlights, lasers, tactical, grenade launchers, silencers, incendiary bullets. Sounds, hits, explosions, fire real nice. 9. Monsters still not that hot or varied but convey the intended story. End monster not as lethal or hard to kill as original. 10. Good use of checkpoints and save/quick load anywhere. 11. More vehicles (humvees, Eager Beavers, armored Bradley-type, tanks). Many are driveable and with guns. Especially satisfying to blow up vehicles. 12. Nano suit still good for armor, strength, speed, cloak, weapon enhancements. Seemed way smoother in function and application than before. 13. Story still not that strong or impressive. You play this for blowing-up people and things with different weapons and Nano suit modes and not for a cute bed-time story. I should have used more of the suit's features. Mainly used armor and strength. 14. As a fps I would rate this as quite good for an overall satisfying experience. However, I do rank this lower than COD4. Warhead has better graphics, possibly sound, and weaponry but COD4 has better story, more intense fighting, rush, and missions. Well, maybe this gives you some flavor for what Crysis Warhead represents.

Very Nice Sequel to Original Crysis
Though you don't need to have the orignal Crysis to install and play Warhead, I think it does help in understanding and appreciating the story and storyline behind Warhead. The graphics are just as incredible as in the original Crysis if not moreso. I thought the alien characters were more life-like and more terrifying than in the original. They are also stubbornly harder to kill. This game has a lot more action than the first Crysis. I understand that is by design but I honestly enjoyed the down time with the first Crysis -- the scenery was so beautiful I enjoyed the free time to just walk around. Anyway, for $20 I would say that if you enjoyed the orignal Crysis and had the hardware to play it, there's no logical reason to pass this sequel up. As to all of the uproar about DRM, I don't think it's an issue at all; it's quite nice to not have to have the original DVD in the drive to play and so you register online when you install. I guess I don't see the big deal there. If you have a 64-bit system (I do) you should get the update to the game which includes the 64-bit version. One last thing, I seem to recall others commenting on the duration of the game being rather short. It is definitely a lot shorter than original Crysis but whether that's an issue or not is something you'll have to decide for yourself. I thought the orignal was a bit too long and this one was surprisingly short. But taken together and divided by two, you have the perfect length :).

**Good Addition to the Series**
Once you get drawn in it was hard not to follow up and see where it led to. To me this was a money grab because most gamers thought the world of the original and this is not a bad follow up. Short...yeah its a little short lengthwise and it follows the same premise but if you really like the way this particular game was going it is not too far off the path...it was a fun ride while it lasted. Me I would wait til the prices drop so you won't feel 'too taken' but sadly that is the way it is all going these days. Come up with a good idea and ride it to death. Movies more or less are the same way...get a winner then trot out a resonalble clone (thats because I can't spell facsimile) and the world will beat a door to your path....Far Cry when you try that one smacks of the original Crysis in the making..but hey..what's it all about? Can you spell money? Crysis2? Now that was a benchmark to see who would run out and buy the latest greatest GPU set up for braggin' rights..when will it end..obsolescence on a daily basis..we have allowed them to allow us to spend more money for the privledge of spending more money to allow them to wow us with the idea that more is better while they put the same game in a console that has a tenth of the power that sells millions while we 'purist' want something that resembles life when in reality that is a joke...like living a movie for crying out loud. My dog is bigger than your dog syndrome.

DRM = DUMB
How long will it take companies to understand that people who are willing to pay will pay and people who steal will steal, regardless of what DRM they implement. To defeat it, all that is required is for one group of hackers to crack it and then it will be everywhere for free anyway - and this always happens. All odious DRM like this does is cause some people who want to be law abiding and would otherwise pay to steal it so they don't get the DRM on their machine. I actually know someone who bought a copy, but won't install it and is waiting to download an illegal cracked version. He wanted to pay for it, but doesn't want the DRM on his machine. Talk about causing the very problem you're trying to prevent! Idiots!!!!!

The activation code could not be re activated. The servers for this game were down. Tried to play using crack. No hope.
