Fragrance of the Forest - 24 Balsam Sticks and Holder - Paine's Fir Balsam Incense

These were very popular in the 50s and 60s to use along with the log cabin . I remember them well. A good friend bought me a cabin but could not find the balsam cones. My only comment is that they don't work well in the cabin since they scorched the roof and also no smoke comes out the chimney like it should. I ended up using the cones separately by burning them on a saucer next to the little cabin. Love the scent of fresh balsam and it brings back lovely memories.

This incense smells like a camp fireI Honest, I let one stick burn down to nothing just in case the upper part was different from the lower. The incense stunk up my house; it did not smell like a Christmas tree at all. I bought this incense because it was a recommended product by Wirecutter last year and Amazon ran out fast. Don't know if the product changed over the year, but I saw that the incense was in stock & quickly bought it. At least I was able to return it.

I love these things. I originally bought them at LL Bean and bought them on a whim. They're the closest you'll get to the scent of a real fireplace. They don't last terribly long, but there's a bunch in the box. I gave them to my mother-in-law who recently swapped out her wood-burning fireplace for a gas one and missed the burning wood smell.

This has a really nice natural scent but it has a tendency to stop burning. After experimenting, I found that you have to ensure the whole tip burns and that it stays red when the flame goes out. The next problem I encountered was that once it had burned down, the residue filled the holder and you have to clean it out with a sharp blade. So its still a nice scent but a bit fussy which is why I gave it a 4.

This is a slightly smoky sent (not unexpected from insense I guess!), but it is a very authentic Christmas tree sent, as if you were standing next to a tree! Wanted to leave a review to help anybody who might have trouble getting to light and stay lit - you really need to get it burning much more than a smaller stick of incense since it’s so thick. Don’t give up on it!

These smell awful. Like stale cigarettes. I didn't think the bad reviews could possibly be true, but they are. They smell pretty good in the box but when they are lit - Horrid smell, I don't even know how they could get them to smell like that based on what they are made from. I had high expectations, so very disappointing. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

This brand of balsam fir incense is amazing. A fresh woodsy scent of pine where it makes you feel like your in the outdoors near a pine forest with a campfire going. I've tried other brands of balsam fir incense but the Paine's brand defenitley has the best quality and it comes with a little incense holder also which is great. Def will be ordering again

5 star smell...3 star function. I love the smell, I bought it because I am allergic to.most good smells, but balsamic and cedar candles never cause me.problems (wax, not soy, soy candles make me very sick). It turns out, the balsamic alone combined with the incense "delievry" rather than candle "delivery" smells like my grandma and grandpa's fireplace in New Jersey at Christmastime when I was a kid. I loved it so much I sent a few to grandpa and gave some to my dad for the nostalgic memories they evoke in me. I really don't have to burn them to evoke the memory but I burn them often, as they are from a comforting time when life was easy. Function is disappointing to say the least. No matter what I use, the sticks do not stay upright. Even more annoying, they do not stay lit, ever. I literally have to keep delighting them over and over again. WHY CAN YOU NOT MAKE A DARN CONE? It's not like all balsamic incense smells like this one, this one is perfect, but I need to be able to light it, put it wherever I want, and let it burn to the bottom, filling the living room with the smell. Every wood block they have, the little cabin, other items I have bought elsewhere for other incense, nothing will help these stay use right for very long. When I light it, I use lighters, long emergency lighters, matches, and I wait until the whole top is glowing red and blow on it to make sure it is all burning on the top and it doesn't matter, they grow out quickly and I can only re light so many times because I have to hold it with my fingers and once I have burned it a few times there is no room for my fingers without being close.to the flames. The thicker shorter ones are better at standing but they still fall over every time I use them and they never stay lit, just like these. I will continue to buy them, no matter the frustration, until I find this exact smell in a better delivery...like a simple CONE, OR EVEN A STICK WILL BE FINE. But if anyone can duplicate the smell exactly, and deliver it easily, I will not buy these again. Could you put a pin or nail in the wood block that will pierce the incense? Make the hole b where the incense goes a little deeper so it stands? Just DO SOMETHING TO MAKE IT STAND UP and stay standing, AND THEN WORK ON THE BURNING ISSUE OF IT NOT BURNING/extinguishing itself. Please fix this problem, I really love the smell without the frustration.
