Switronix DV-GP4-USBC GoPro 4 Battery Eliminator USB Power Cable, 10-Feet with Backdoor Case

I use this product on my GoPro Hero 4 silver mounted on motorcycle. It solves the problem on short battery life when running video where switching batteries is very inconvenient and impractical. No instructions are given for the product, but it didn't take long to figure out how to work the unit. The 10 ft USB cable is a nice feature. I mounted the unit on my GL1800 on the clutch side and run the cable all the way to the left fairing pocket into the USB cigarette adaptor and still plenty of cable left. The one thing that keeps this from getting 5 star rating is the short internal cable between the plug connecting GoPro and the base power block glued to the bottom of the backdoor. This short cable section restrict me from hooking /unhooking the plug to the back of the camera. I found the getting around by accident when the glue came loose freeing up the block to move freely.

(Review by my father, who this item was for)First of all I’d like to say I was very impressed with how fast I received the product after I had ordered it just 3 days before. I noticed that several of the comments oriole made were talking about how short the cord was on the back, it was hard to plug into the camera. I noticed there is a simple solution; plug it into the camer first then snap the door hung in place (using some Dielectric Grease) as a lubricant because it’s non-corrosive, it snaps right into place, then you just push the plug the rest of the way in and shut the door. I ha e used the batter illuminated with the door for the last several days free of having to change batteries constantly.One of the best purchases I’ve made so far. The company also sent me a bonus gift that was quite a surprise these days. You will be very excited about the freedom from batteries! Just plug into any USB port and you’re ready to go.

I received the battery eliminator with the rest of my order ok. I installed it right away and it works fine. I did encounter the same problems others wrote about wich is the lid does not close smoothly. I did figured out the problem. It is not easy to explain in in writing but let me try. On the inside of the eliminator wall there are 4 pieces of plastic, 2 on each side wich I assume is to hold the camara in place so it does not go backwards. The 2 pieces on the side of the plug, hit the plug and will not let the door close aligned. I had to carefully move the plug to the right and wiggle the door shut and seal it, I am going to try and cut the pieces or file it down carefully to see if that does it. It should fix it. Other than that it works well, I am satisfied with the purchase.

The product works as advertised, but I have a few gripes: Mainly, the fit between the back of the case and the camera is EXTREMELY tight. This makes it difficult to seat the connector into the back of the go pro fully. This has led to intermittent connections over time. If you plan on using this for mobile applications, I would look for a different option. I am lucky, in that my application is a time lapse with no unit movement.Also, the unit does not appear to charge the GoPro (or at least charges really really slow). I think this may be due to the resistivity of the long cable, but unsure.Overall, it should get the job done. Hope this helps!

Works as it should and it's a good solution! But be careful with handling the cable wires. If you're not careful the USB cable may come off. Also when taking the power adapter off the go pro don't force it or the cover from the adapter will come undone. I'm sending mine back due to the cable coming off and Switronix is sending me a brand new one, so as of right now the customer service is good. I have this plugged into an external charger which last up to 7 hours while bass fishing in my tournaments.

I was hesitant to buy after some of the other bad reviews but it seems to work very well with my Hero 4 silver. I've only mounted it and tried it on brief test so far but it assembled fine and powered my camera, and recoreded a short clip with NO battery installed in the camera. I think it's going to work out great for me.It will NOT fit any of my aftermarket cases, only OEM GoPro Cases. I will be running it for long periods shooting fishing videos for my yt channel "scottnra" and it will save me a lot of trouble fighting batteries. I will most likely also buy another one for Cam-2!

So far, this product works as described. The cord that plugs into the GoPro is a little short, but I removed the glued in piece and it makes it easier to plug it into the camera. The camera stays still when in the case this way. The door does take a little getting use to, but it is something that you should be mindful of anyway. I plugged it in with no battery and it powered right up, I also left the battery in and there were no issues. I will give updates as time goes on. Really hoping that this stays working well, because it will be great on the kayak and doing time-lapses to not worry about battery life.
