Best alternative to gym gloves - [Updated November 2014]
*** Update*** In November 2014 my soft grip pads gave in, after almost 2 years of weekly use. I am still using them at home, but I needed a new pair for the gym because they are breaking in the middle. In order to ensure longer performance this time I have bought a firm grip. It doesn't feel as good as the soft grip, but it's still a very solid product, which I would recommend to anyone, and over gym gloves. These firm grip pads still ensure protection and grip for your hands, and I believe will last longer (Not that two years is not long enough...). Overall, I think I wouldn't buy again a soft grip, but I guess I will re-assess in the future. I still prefer this to any type of gym gloves, in fact I have re-purchased them, instead than buying gym gloves. Their advantage in my opinion is that you can use them or not, depending on the type of lift, in a snap, no need to take anything on or off. They offer very good padding, in fact probably superior to any glove, without the sweating. I would buy them again, and again. See you in 2016 :-) I stumbled by chance into these gloves, while looking for gym gloves, and was intrigued. I was not a fun of gym gloves, but my hands were getting a lot of callosities, and more specifically they were hurting on a lift, thus impairing it. These pads feel slightly awkward at first, but they absolutely work. They significantly reduced my callosities, and made it easier to lift dumbbells or barbells. I do not need anymore chalk for deadlifting and can concentrate on the lifting rather than on the grapping. Also, with these my hands don't sweat. On some lifts they are particularly awesome, most of all I would say chin-ups/pull-ups. I thought not having a bag or not wearing them would have been a pain to carry them around, but actually that is not a problem at all. I just put them inside my pants at the wais and they don't slide away. I recommend these, and believe these are superior to gym gloves. Also, quite cheaper than many models of gloves.

Better Than Gloves In Every Single Way
Note: First off, the company has requested me to write an unbiased review in exchange for a pair of free pads. Having said this, I rarely write any reviews but since I'm getting something free for my time and they're truly great. Then why not? Bought the firm pads a few months ago and haven't been disappointed one bit! Recommended to my friends, and even had to buy another pair when my younger brother took mine. In my honest opinion, it is truly the best bang for your buck! No, really and I'm not exaggerating! It's under $10 and I couldn't even find cheapo gloves around that price. And didn't have to worry about the sizing. I would agree with everything the company claims except for one to an extent, which is "Maximize your lifting with padded support". This may be true with the soft pads but unlikely for the firm. One of my gym buddy bought all three and said the firm is the thickest. Since the pads will protect your hands from getting 'torn up', you should be able to lift your hardest on everything, except some pulling exercises. Some that comes to mind right now are lat pulldowns, bentover rows, shrugs and deadlifts. The firm pads will make the bar thicker, then your grip wider, thus being weaker. Sure, this will make your grip strength stronger in the long term but there are times, which are most of the time, that you just want to lift heavy a** weights. In these cases, you just have to use straps. Yes, I understand you can go lighter and aim for 25 or 30 reps and get the burn, but really. No, REALLY?! Probably, the main reason this product caught my eye was/is the no sweat hands claim. I have hyperhidrosis and these pads are a life-saver. My hands are sweaty half the time and worst with warm/hot temperature. Before with gloves, my hands would be all wrinkly like I was in the pool for 20 mins. Now, my hand can 'breathe' and can use paper towels whenever I need to. And not to mention the gawd awful smell after every workout. I do hand wash the gloves and the smell does go away but the texture are never the same again. I haven't smell anything from the pads yet, but if they get too dirty or I think they need a cleaning, I just grab some wet wipes and that's it. For barbell benching, from wide to close grips, I use suicide grips and definitely feel safe with these pads. With the bar making the pads concave, I can focus more on my benching. This goes for shoulders and arm routines with normal grips. Some would say having calluses makes you manly and I do agree, but my girlfriend beg to differ. Even after a few months of use, they're still in good shape and either sides identical doesn't hurt. Before, I thought about buying the ones with the finger loops but thought what would I do when one of the loop breaks? Yeah, it had more color options but the prices were much higher too. Yes, it looks plain and really nothing to talk about. Just 2 black rectangular pads that look more like drink coasters than anything else. But if you're a serious lifter and actually break a sweat working out? I can't recommend another product more than this one. I will never go back wearing gloves again. And great for open jars too. Now, where are my free pads?

Awesome Alternative to Gloves
I was unsure about ordering these to begin with because it just seemed weird not to use gloves; however, I had used workout gloves for several years and had heavier duty ones that were very expensive but for which I still got blisters, had thinner ones that were name-brand for lighter workouts, but still got blisters. With the Grip Power Pads, I can lift any weights and my hands remain callous free and comfortable. I really appreciate them on the larger dumbbells and ESPECIALLY on a the pull up bar. Pull ups are hard for me but even harder when I had to worry about the blisters or the gloves pinching me, but these pads give me a comfortable grip that does not slip and from which I can focus on the muscle movements and not the slippery grip. Great product. Have lasted well. And best yet, the price is right. Now the only reason it only got 4 stars was because of the one minor negative. If you are doing a very fast-paced workout where you are moving from dumbbell to dumbbell repetitively, the placing on the the grip around the dumbbell handle might be slightly slower than just grabbing a dumbbell with a gloved hand. However, I have done many different workouts, some of them very fast paced, and I have no complaints.

A decent alternative to gym gloves, but don't expect them to last too long.
I have several sets of workout gloves that work great, but I found that they weren't the best at helping me maintain my grip during weighted chin-ups and barbell shoulder shrugs (in addition to deadlifts). This led me to search the Internet for weightlifting grips, which ultimately led me to the Grip Power Pads. Pros: -The pads provide a dramatic increase in grip (depending on the ones you get - I bought the "Soft Grip"). -They dry off quickly, so bacteria growth (as with most gloves) is not too much of an issue (even after washing my antimicrobial gloves, they still have a certain odor). -They help prevent calluses and blisters (I already have several calluses on my hands, but when gripping bars with the pads, it's more comfortable than with my gloves). Cons: -Not durable. I've only used them for a little over a week, and there is already a third of an inch sized tear on one of the pads. The pads also seem to be dwindling/wearing down rather quickly (I'm not lifting crazy heavy weight either). Overall, if you're looking for something to replace your gloves and improve your grip, grip pads are something you may want to consider. As for the Grip Power brand grip pads, I can't say that I would recommend them, nor would I buy them again due to their poor durability. They were only $9.00, but for double the cost, you can get something built tougher that will more than likely last longer. You could also simply buy rubber mouse pads and cut them in half. This will run you roughly $2.00, and will probably last just as long as the Grip Power pads would. It IS possible that I may have received old stock/faulty pads, but I don't think I'll spend another $9.00 just to find out. I hope this helps. Update: 3/20/2013 Much to my surprise, Grip Power Pads contacted me regarding my "faulty" pads, and has offered to send me a replacement set. Customer service like that, while not unheard of, is not too common - so, I'm changing my rating from two stars, to three stars. I'll update my review after using the new set.

These pads are AWESOME!
Pro: 1. I have a pretty bad skin, I have allergic all over my hands, and it crack and bleed if I go to the gym without these pads. 2. They are anti-skid. No need to worry about sweaty hands and loosing grip due to sweaty. 3. With these pad I'm be able to pull more weight. Because it supports my grip a lot. 4. Easy to use. Easy to clean, must throw them with your laundry, but DO NOT heat dry! 5. Good price. A lot cheaper than gloves. Yet provide more benefit than gloves. Con: 1. It doesn't smell so good. Especially the first time. 2. Easy to lost. Maybe this is just me, but I bought 2 pair of pads at the 1st time, and then I lost them all just in 2 weeks. Now I just bought 3 pairs again.

Good Idea, bad execution!!! Bad materials.!!!
Good idea, bad performance. In original package, only used 1 time, only last one training session and its already ripped off!!, both of them. One is more visible, but the second one its cracked just where the stitching its placed between the velcro and the neoprene pad. Neoprene pad its not thick enough.

These Power Pads are for Powerful Lifters and Trainers
Love these! I have the soft-grip pads, and they work much better than I ever hoped! I am beyond an avid gym-goer...I work out 7 days a week, 1.5 hours per day. I use these pads for everything - barbells, dumbbells, kettle bells, pads for the chin-up bar, even on the ground for push-ups. I train using varying methods, from more traditional weight lifting to cross fit. The weights I use vary from very light (15 pounds) all the way through 180 pounds. I used to tear through gloves in months, but I've put these to the test and they pass with flying colors. They provide protection, comfort, very secure grip, and no smell! My old gloves smelled so bad I'd have to keep them in a separate compartment in the gym bag. Now, no problems! These are also great conversation starters - cause everyone is looking at these at the gym! I tell them get these, and throw those horrible gloves away. I am studying for my Personal Trainer certification, and I will definitely be using (and promoting) these.
