I've been looking for these!
I have long hair that is moderately thick, and regular Bobby pins are too small or flimsy to work. I usually need at least 10-15 to hold my hair up, and it's just not comfortable. But these hair pins work great! They're long enough to really secure my hair style, and I only need 4 to keep my hair in place! The coating will probably flake off at some point, since that's how hair pins are, in my experience, but I don't care about that. I just want the style to stay in place!

I have dread locks and I needed hair pins to hold my bun in place. These 3" pins should work fine. So happens my name is Diane 😁

Sturdy, effective metal, but with annoyingly flakey coating
Based on reading other reviews, I feel like not everyone is receiving the same item. These should be arriving as 3" metal hairpins, not soft or flimsy at all. They're just about the only thing that can hold my hair in place when it gets really long. However, as other people have mentioned, the black paint flakes off excessively. It doesn't take long before they're stripped to the base metal and I find the flakes stick to things like the the sides of clear plastic bags and such. I would consider docking two stars for that, except that they are really sturdy and I haven't found many other metal 3" pins as good as these for holding hair in place.

Long enough to hold heavy long hair
I have thick hair and a lot of it. So, my hairdo is pretty heavy, due to that I need sturdy and longer hairpins. I bought these as a try, and happy to see that they hold my hair. Definitely recommend for people who need stronger hold for their hair. Might be too heavy for very thin hair types.

These long U pins are perfect for long hair buns
I can't live without these, but I wish they lasted longer. These long U pins are perfect for long hair buns. The metal is sturdy and have good hold. The problem is the paint and the little ball at the tips. With just a few uses, the paint starts chipping. Also the little balls at the tips to protect your hair and scalp start to fall off pretty quickly thereafter. Despite this, I'll still be buying these for now.
