RIDGID 29963 Model 35S 1/4" to 1-3/8" Stainless Steel Tubing Cutter with X-CEL Knob, Silver

I was expecting it to be difficult to cut the galvanized pipe with this item. This was so easy to use. adjusting to cut deeper as you go is so simple you feel like it can’t be working and yet it is! The pipe cutter makes perfect even cut. I would recommend this to everyone. I’m not impressed with many things but this was outstanding. Great little tool. Perfect size to take with and very reasonable price. Very well made not like the cheap crappy junky one that is now a heavy paper weight.

I used this to cut the steerer top tube on my bike forks. And holy hell did this thing do a good job. My wife even noticed how awesome looking my cuts were and praised my technical prowess. She seemed extra flirty the rest of the day and extremely willing bear more children for me on account of being able to master this task effortlessly. I was proud of my crowning achievement as a bike mechanic, but in reality this is just a good tool and works well. I had a $10 cheap one before this that fell apart during a cut on aluminum top tube with only the third time using it. This one just made perfectly straight cuts on a chromoly steel fork as well as an aluminum steerer top tube. Highly recommended.

I purchased the RIDGID 29963 Model 35S Stainless Steel Tubing Cutter to cut the steerer tubes on my new MTB forks. I wanted a cutter that would cut the tube cleanly. The Rigid 29963 model 35S is capable of cutting stainless steel tube w/diameters from 1/4 inch to 1-3/8 inch. It has a large adjustment knob that is comfortable & makes tensioning the cutting wheel easy. There are bearings Instead of rollers that are in most pipe cutters. These felt really good & allowed me to make a true, smooth, clean cut on the 1-1/8 inch steerer tube. There was only a need for minimal filing to clean up the burrs left behind. Overall I am very happy w/this pipe cutter. In the future if I need to cut another steerer tube or handlebars, I know this will complete the job. I’ve used the $10 tubing cutters from HFT and A-zone for years, and I thought that’s just how tubing cutters were. When my last one wore out I thought I’d have a look on Amazon to see what others liked, and this topped the reviews. Still took me three months of dilly-dallying to convince myself to spend $45 for a unit I felt should be $10, but gave in and ordered one because I have a ton of metal conduit and tubing to cut. WOW!! This thing is the Rolls Royce of cutters! The Bentley! First of all, it’s huge. It probably weighs a full pound, has multiple rollers with bearings, cutting wheel with bearing, and it’s so well made that the slide never binds and the power screw never jams. It’s like silk. It cuts through 1” EMT like butter, never a hiccup or jump or squeal. It doesn’t wander off track, it doesn’t jam, and it’s very forgiving even if you accidentally over-tighten the cutter a bit. So far I’ve probably made two dozen cuts (?) and it’s actually a pleasure to use it…I’ve been using it instead of a jigsaw or sawzall even for cuts I could do with the saw just because I like using it. I believe this is a tool that will last a lifetime. We’ll see how long I live and how long it lasts, but I’m super happy. Absolutely would buy this over and over if I had to.

Bought this because I couldn't find my old tubing cutter. Naturally after I got this I found the old one. But this one works better. Makes a clean cut very easily, no tendency of the cut to spiral down the tube.

Excellent quality, tracks perfectly as another brand I purchased would spiral as cutter was rotated because the bearings not aligned. I used to cut EMT 1 inch pipe and fence pipe that was about 1 and quarter inch.

I was a bit skeptical of whether this would really work or not, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I needed to make a handful of cuts in some stainless tube, and it worked great. The key was just tightening a little each time. I was amazed at how easy it was, and the cuts came out very clean without any need to file the ends.

Four to five turns, and this carbon-steel wire-shelving post was toast. I was shocked at how easily and quickly the cut end fell to the ground. LOVE this tool. No specialty saws or blades needed. All I see now are steels posts that need shortening. . . The hardest part of my project was removing the tube cutter from the ridiculously thick plastic clam-shell packaging. No country for old hands. Rigid, please include a tool to open your packaging :-)

This is a nice cutter! I use it to cut 3/8" and 1/2" stainless tubing and it does a fantastic job. the finer pitch thread makes turning the knob easier (and there is a spare blade in the knob!). unlike the other Rigid and Swagelok cutters my coworkers use, this one does not rest the cutting blade on the bearings when fully closed. It's wider than any other cutter I've seen so clearances could be an issue near ends of tube or fittings, but the tradeoff of getting smooth rotations and less chance of corkscrewing cuts is worth it. The only cons I can think of is that the replacement blades are kind of expensive. But the blades are nice, designed for cutting stainless, and are wider diameter than others i've seen. Makes for smooth, easy cuts. I love it!
